I wanted to vote 1987 but it wasnt an option

Why Pikmin 3 wasn't mentioned for 2013, and why 2014. is not mentioned at all when we had DKTF, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros 4!?

Personally I vote for year that had Ocarina of Time and Banjo Kazooie. :)

Parents got me a 64 in 1998 and i got to play some great games that year like super mario, mario kart, banjo kazooie, star fox and ocarina of time

2013 was also Wind Waker HD, Pokemon X/Y and Pikmin 3.
Very good year.

Going by european release dates it would have to be 2003. Metroid prime, Windwaker, F-zero gx, Mariokart double dash, Resident evil zero, Super monkey ball 2, 1080 Avalanche, Star wars Rebel strike, Soulcalibre 2, Burnout 2, Timesplitters2 and SSX3. Best year ever for a Nintendo home console.

1998 comes close, but I'll go with 2006. That was the year the DS began to take off and the Wii released. Wii Sports + Twilight Princess (and strangely enough Wii Play) was an absolute killer combo for me. New Super Mario Bros released that year, too. The first new 2D Mario game in ages. Oh and the Virtual Console was such a revolutionary concept back then! Everyone was in awe that you could download Mario 64 and the original Super Mario Bros.

I loved the time from 2005 to 2009. That was the best time to be a Nintendo fan in my opinion. Lots of great games, new ways to play, a rapidly expanding market... and I was already a fan in the mid 90's so I have lots of memories to choose from!

Tough call. 2006-10 was a great period for Nintendo in general and probably their most profitable since the Wii and DS were complete juggernauts and they had more than enough software to back it up. 2013-14 I think are underrated since most will look back mostly on the mid-late 2000s, the 90's, and late 80's. During '13-'14, we had Pikmin 3, DK Tropical Freeze, Pkmn X, Y, and ORAS, Sm4sh, Bayonetta 1&2, Hyrule Warriors, FE: Awakening (outside Japan), Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, A Link Between Worlds, Mario Kart 8, Kirby's Triple Deluxe, Capt. Toad's Treasure Tracker, and Mario 3D World, along with others I may have forgotten to mention.

Edit: Animal Crossing New Leaf (outside Japan) and Wind Waker HD also released in 2013. Japan also saw the release of Monster Hunter 4/Ultimate and Youkai Watch, two incredible hits in their own right, Dragon Quest VII remake, and Fatal Frame V around the period of '13-'14.

I wouldn't pick any year that hinges on one or two great releases, which is why I wouldn't say 1998. Banjo-Kazooie and Ocarina of Time are legendary, but for me they're the only two real standouts of that year (1080, F-Zero X and Mario Party are all good, but flawed in different ways).

Actually, none of the four years I would pick are in the poll. For me, it would be between 1995, 2002, 2004 and 2014 (EDIT: and 1987, too - forgot about that one - Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man and Kid Icarus all began in that one year!).

1995:
Kirby's Dream Course
Chrono Trigger
Killer Instinct
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Donkey Kong Country 2
Mortal Kombat 3 (if you're into that sort of thing)

That's one of the best RPGs of all time alongside two of the best platformers of all time (especially SMW2, which was so creative).

2002:
Resident Evil (REmake)
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Super Monkey Ball 2
Super Mario Sunshine
Animal Crossing
Star Fox Adventures
TimeSplitters 2 (not an exclusive, but incredibly fun)
Resident Evil Zero
Metroid Prime
Metroid Fusion

Somehow I never realised that REmake and RE0 released so close together, and they're easily two of the best RE games (along with 4). We finally got Animal Crossing, we got the now-legendary Metroid Prime, and we got a new Super Monkey Ball and a new Mario game on the same day.

2004:
Tales of Symphonia
Donkey Konga
Pikmin 2
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Mario Party 6
Metroid Prime 2
Baten Kaitos
Viewtiful Joe 2

Three of the best RPGs Nintendo has ever had all released in 2004, along with terrific sequels to two of my absolute favourite Nintendo games (Pikmin and Metroid Prime) and one of the best Mario Party games.

2014:
Wii Fit U
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Mario Kart 8
Pushmo World
Hyrule Warriors
Bayonetta/Bayonetta 2
Tengami
Smash Bros. 4
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Tomodachi Life

A couple of great downloadable games (Pushmo/Tengami) along with series-best entries for Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. Most people probably don't care about Wii Fit, but I did. Captain Toad was super original, Smash Bros. was strong and Bayonetta kicked ass.

Thinking about it, for me it's probably between 2002 and 2004. The former saw some truly excellent entries in a lot of existing series and the origin of Animal Crossing, the latter was one of their best years for RPGs and also gave me a Pikmin and Metroid Prime sequel.

For Nintendo, both 1998 & 2002 were blast!

Edit: I used to have free loader for the GCN because of Super Mario Sunshine NA release date was horrible horrible horrible timing placed, stupid school! That's why i picked up the JP version in late July. And again i picked up Wind Waker JP version in December 2002, you guessed it? The NA release date was also horrible timing placed, of course! Schoool!!
