Generic Football question for the masses:

I have only meet two types of people in the world. People who love Football (like in their soul love it) and those who really don't like it at all. Why is football (soccer) so divisive?

I used to hate watching it when i was younger (loved playing it though) up until my late teens and then actually watched a few matches and kept up with the sport, i dunno what really drew me to it but I think it's just a really competitve game where anything can happen, the exhilerating feeling when your sat with your brothers (each one supporting a different team) and your team scores against theirs, it's addictive, especially cup matches such as the champions league, for me its just something that brings the family together, love watching matches with them and laughing if their team is losing, predicting who's going to win the league.

For some reason the reply thing didn't quote the original text....and i've sumhow managed to quote myself :L

I got it though!  And thanks for the response!

Football never changes. That's wrong, but FIFA rarely changes, that would be a more correct statement...

I hope they work on the career mode, it's the only one I play, I really don't like UT or online games at all. As far as visuals go, FIFA 16 already looks pretty damn good on PC, and animations are good but the physics are still out of whack in a big way, there's a lot of work to be done on the physical feel of 1 on 1 duels and the whole process of steering and maintaining balance during sprints etc. My guess is that pace will be the be-all end-all stat again this year, like it was in FIFA 15, it was worthless in FIFA 16 though, they just can't seem to get the balance right at all with this bit.

Anyway, I'll get this when it comes out, cause I'm a filthy, worthless casual at heart...

Do you think that was a sneaky way of comparing football to war... I mean when you think about it... the rivalrys are pretty damn serious lol.

James is ok, Hazard is ok.. But martial and Reus? Where's Neymar or Gareth Bale?

I would argue that unlike other sporting events I have been to football engenders a sense of belonging and community. It is an experience you feel as opposed to entertainment you view.  The banners, flags, smoke, singing, etc. invest you in the outcome of the match that the club is an extension of you.

I think people who never experience that just think we're foolish for getting so passionate about a sport.  So, the division stems from the intensity and passion the sport possesses making it feel less welcoming to casual goer who just wants to find some mild amusement on the day.

Could very well be a playful jab towards Konami, I actually didn't think of that!
