Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Miyamoto losing his touch?

How much can we credit Miyamoto for Nintendo's latest failures? Because he's not the designer or director of most of the games from the later years. In Star Fox Zero, for example, he acted as a producer, and "Producer" is such a general position. He may very well have little to do with the game itself.

It was multiple times stated that Miyamoto was the director of Star Fox Zero. He also said this in an interview:

Sao: But when you play the game, you can tell that you really enjoyed working on it.

Miyamoto: Right. That’s because I just did whatever I wanted! (evil laughs)

Yes I added 'evil' before 'laughs', but we can in fact blame Miyamoto for the mess SF0 is. He also said that he played Wii Music more than any other game he made, which was also trash. He may not be director of many games Nintendo makes, but he has enough power to make big changes. He was the one who decided Paper Mario Sticker Trash didn't need a story and RPG-elements. I'm sure he's also responsible for the trash that is Federation Force and amiibo Festival. And because Miyamoto is such a respected person, they had no choice but to listen to him and to make something up from there on.

I think Miyamoto was a genius in the past, but people grow old and in this case also delusional. He still thinks he is the man everybody has to listen to even though he thinks video games should be treated as toys. He has absolutely no idea what the modern gamer wants and it will only hurt Nintendo unless they do something about it. He can make gimmicky indie-games if he wants, but stay away from big console games.

No he isn't losing it, because he completely lost it already.

Sales numbers show that decision killed the franchise?  Not the lack of multiplayer, or lack of content?  I'm curious to see how sales numbers showed that.

It's the worst selling game in the series since Star Fox Command.

Pickles are disgusting.

As long as we're making non-sequitors, I thought I'd just get that out there.

Star fox zero was no mistake, only sticker star was. He also got Pikmin 3 perfectly.

Not according to http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Fox_Zero/credits

SF0 had two directors, neither of which being Miyamoto, with Miyamoto as supervising director (I have no clue what that means).

Let´s keep in mind that Miyamoto is not a designer anymore.... but rather a producer, supervisor or director, depending on the game.
After playing Pikmin 3, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Nintendo Land, SM3dLand, Skyward Sword, Super Mario Maker (where he was a producer) and Super Smash Bros WiiU, Mario Golf World Tour , Mario & Luigi Paper Jam, P&D Super Mario Edition (where he was a supervisor).... I´d say....no... he is not losing his "touch".
But he is not the only one responsible to all decisions in the production of a new game.
I just think that he should be involved in more franchises. It seems that Nintendo is only demanding him to work on Mario and Zelda, and that may be making him tired and uninspired sometimes.

Because it's not like Star Fox Zero just released or something, oh wait.

I said that because Command flopped, and even though the series recovered from that, now there's Star Fox Zero which flopped even harder.

Which had nothing to do with what I said.

UP WITH BUBBLES DOWN WITH AIR!

What do you think of this then? http://time.com/3747708/nintendo-shigeru-miyamoto/ or this http://lifehacker.com/shigeru-miyamotos-best-creativity-tips-1742425669

Again, games like SF0 are based on perspectives. You may not like it, but there are those who genuinely do, including me. You can't just put his name on every project Nintendo's involved in and expect everything to be all his fault. Federation Force may be a good game or not, but it's not Miyamoto's project, it's Tanabe, long time producer who was involved in the Prime trilogy. Amiibo Festival was mostly done under Kyogoku's lead, who has grown to take the reigns of the franchise, especially since her involvement in recent games including highly acclaimed New Leaf. Plus, Amiibo festival was a spin-off, probably rushed because there was not much more Nintendo could do at that point since they had to move forward with new projects.

Still a sign of painful weakness over at Nintendo. Nothing they've done in past generations has been as bad as amiibo Festival or Federation Force.

Is federation force a bad game? Especially since no one has actually played the game yet, besides those who played previews? I don't know the full catalogue of games by Nintendo so I can't say anything about Amiibo Festival's reception other than I haven't played it yet and can't make a proper judgment.
