Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Miyamoto losing his touch?

The man has shaped the industry multiple times, but what he can't shape are the trends and tastes of the public. And if those get far away from Miyamoto's core ideas, there's nothing he can do. I still think he has a lot to bring to game, even after all this years.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

No he isn't losing it, because he completely lost it already.

Sticker Star & Star Fox Zero... yep he lost his touch.

How much can we credit Miyamoto for Nintendo's latest failures? Because he's not the designer or director of most of the games from the later years. In Star Fox Zero, for example, he acted as a producer, and "Producer" is such a general position. He may very well have little to do with the game itself.

Every dog has its day. Miyamoto had a great run. He can't go on forever. No shame that he's lost it. Markets and trends change. There's not much he can do.

What about Pikmin 3? He's even mentored the devs who made Splatoon and has endorsed the game, heck inspired them to make the concept appealing after they got the core basics down. And I think SF0 is more on perspective than anything because there's some who truly like the game, not necessarily love it, and some who don't. I don't know about Sticker Star since I haven't played it, just know about critics' perspective as well as the fans'.

people have been asking this for over a decade.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Anyone here work at Nintendo?

I think it's more a matter of being out of touch really. He's trying to adopt to modern times but it's just not working out.

Yes. Wii U, Sticker Star, Star Fox Zero.
Although, he has done some good ideas from time to time.
