They both definitely helped. The Slim boosted sales that Summer and the Kinect only boosted them more that Holiday and helped give them momentum the following year. What's interesting to me though is seeing if this Slim has any sort of the worldwide impact that the Xbox 360 S had. The 360 had a much more established (though still lagging behind the Wii and PS3) worldwide presence than the One does. I do think it'll give them a nice boost in the NPDs, at least at first, but I'm interested to see if it can provide any sort of boost outside the territories where the console is already doing okay. I also think part of the 360 Slim's success was the fact that it came with a much improved failure rate (I personally had four fat 360's die on me before just saying screw it and buying a 4gb Slim which still works just fine) so it will be interesting to see if this new one has quite an impact as the other, especially with Scorpio looming upon the horizon.
EDIT: Something, um, really...interesting...is going on at Amazon. The image used to represent the Xbox Live 1-year-card keeps changing. A few hours ago it was a picture of Pikachu chewing on a pokeball and right now it's a picture of a naked redhead.
