Forums - General Discussion - Kid falls in gorilla pit- gorilla is shot to death

I find it funny how the mom says, "mommy loves you".  dear god; if you loved your kid, you wouldn't have let him get into the goddamn pit.

Quite sad how our stupidity results into an animal's death. They already have sucky lives, stuck in captivity with hooligans yelling at them.

I mean, for Christ's sake, officials seriously need to investigate this woman to see how the hell you screw up that badly. What did she do while her child went on a journey to the monkeys? bet you she was probably taking 500 selfies while checking out her ugly ass nails

The monkey was calm most of the time. It's clear he only become agitated because the people couldn't SHUT UP! When you have 20-30 people yelling, you're most likely going to gain anxiety. common sense except for these dumbasses.

I've seen children go to the zoo all the time. if a teacher can watch 30 kids successfully but your only kid manages to reach the gorilla pits, then you know something is wrong.

"As a society we are quick to judge how a parent could take their eyes off a child..."  all this cringing makes me want to drink bleach.

Edit: listen up folks. I just wanted to put this in; I only put this story on VGChartz because i thought it was interesting to see the consequences of not supervising your child. However, I find it frustrating and disappointing that most people don't give a shit about politics and important issues when it isn't a trend. Once something becomes a trend, then people will go out of their way to act like they truly care. Remember Cecil the lion? This is the same thing. Sure, I feel bad, but can people stop being hypocrites and speak out against worse issues? One gorilla is not as bad as many other modern day issues that people don't know due to them gobbling anything that becomes a trend. Ice bucket challenge, don't judge me, Cecil, Feelthebern, Cincinnati Gorilla, Kylie Jenner challenge, on and on and o n. Don't people realize that you look like a clown when all you talk about is trending topics that are overblown by the public and media?

I think this post I made summarizes my viewpoint of this issue if you care what I think, which I'm sure you don't Quite disappointing how no one would have cared for the gorilla had it not become a large trend.

the parents should pay for causing the death of the innocent animal.

Its pretty fucked up. Just a sad story overall.

Noticing this story pop up all over the place, and yea, the mom in this scenario was not a good parent at all, and was a complete moron.

It really sucks that the gorilla died too, they could've used non-lethal methods.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

She's probably those moms who spend so much time on how they look, they forget they have children in the first place.

It pisses me off more when all she does is thank god and all that. Should thank him for not throwing you in the pits.

Parents these days... Jesus... This whole thing is just nonsense and the parent should be ashamed of herself

Also why can't people learn to take videos in wide screen mode? Like seriously.... Virtually every display in the world is wide screen yet people continue to take videos in the dumbest way possible...

This whole event happening was a tragedy indeed.

But I think the Zoo authority did the right thing - considering shooting a tranqualizer doesnt necessarily guarantee the ape would have been instantly knocked out. Infact it would have enraged it more before it would pass out from the effects of the tranqualizer.

If the ape would have killed the child - I'm pretty sure the ape would have been put down one way or another afterwards and this whole case would have blown up a whole lot more than it is now to the point where the Zoo would have been affected by a possible family lawsuit.

Though the mother was a shitty mother - like how the hell do you lose grip/sight of your child especially in a area like that? I agree to those saying charges should be made against the family for the cost of the ape.

her(and her supporters) don't make any sense as well. I understand kids get away for a bit, but managing to reach a pit?

Look at teachers. They have 30 little devils running around. When's the last time we heard a student fall into a gorilla pit?

Oh god, it's that lion story all over again. Let's just ignore the thousands of human deaths that are caused by idiot humans every day and let's focus all our attention on that one time where a stupid human is responsible for one animal's death.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I've already vented about this elsewhere but it still infuriates me. While its true that none of us were there to witness the events, I have little doubt that this tragedy was due to this idiot's irresponsibility as a parent. In fact, eyewitness' have stated that this kid had already expressed - multiple times - an interest in trying to get in there. I don't see any excuse for her not intervening before it got to that point. I sincerely hope this "parent" is held criminally responsible for this to the absolute highest possible extent.

Some idiots have no business being parents.

A story like this happened before 2012, and it was handled much more professionally.
