This has to be a joke. BvS was supposed to be DC's saving grace; a MEGA HAUL movie grossing $2B.....Xmen is not supposed to do that.
CIVIL WAR FTW!

To the OP, what does X-Men's box office opening have to do with BvS? This obsession with trying to excuse BvS has to cease. A good movie would stand on its own. I'm tired of reading threads stating" (insert movie title here) was (insert descriptor here) now what do you think of BvS?" The fact that this type of defense of BvS keeps coming up speaks volumes about the quality of the film.

X-men wasnt expected to be part of the big showdown.

Also the budget wasnt really that high for the x-men movies as well so it can't really be thrown into the flop category if it made its budget first week.

I actually really dig this Xmen series. I don't get what all the hate is about.

A better question - anyone left to dispute the fact that Civil War underperformed?

Is some mod messing with me and changed my title?

Its because the series doesnt follow the comic book series on many levels. The movies also tend to be a bit hit or miss overall as well but the last few have been good if you take in account it won't be anything like the comics or tv shows.

I loved X-men and i think BvS was alright. I don't get the hate either, but it has already had consequences.

That's not a better question.  That's derailing the thread.  If you think it's such a great question make another topic for it.

On topic, Warner Bros. reactions, making changes to the directorial staff and decreasing the influence of Batman vs Superman's producer show how they felt about BvS's performance.

And nobody ever really questioned that Batman vs Superman had a good opening weekend.  In terms of box office, the criticism is how quickly sales dropped. X-men's sales are really neither here nor there.  They're disappointing on their own, but the movie was never really expected to perform near Batman v Superman at any rate.  So really you have a strawman argument on top of a strawman argument.

I think it took some time to people realise how overestimated DoFP was.

Brian Singer is very limited as an action director. He didn´t bring anyting new to the franchise
