Forums - Sony Discussion - PSVR Runs Poorly on the Regular PS4(Rumor)

Hopefully sony knows what they're doing and they learned from Move and 3D Display.

Well the problem with those is the market didnt want them even though Move and 3D TVs worked fine.

The biggest issue with PSVR is getting a significant number of people to buy an expensive headset with an underwhelming library. I think the device will work fine, but it has other obstacles.

This has been completely debunked. It's more nonsense.

Anonymous rumours aside, the games shown in VR until now have been, for the most part, tech demos. Even the ones that are the most fleshed out are not that deep compared to regular games. So when those games do arrive, and they start asking for power, they are going to find themselves terribly constricted. And I don't think VR can survive as a bussiness with just indie titles, the big companies will have to come too or it will be ignored in time.

Almost all PSVR games run at 60fps "reprojected" to 120fps. This is very important as the PSVR will have a 33% performance save over Rift and Vive as they need to output at 90fps (not to mention slightly higher res) This allows PSVR to catch up in the graphics department despite not being as powerful as a 970.

I've read 100s of PSVR impressions and have not seen a single complaint about the 60fps. Iv even seen a youtuber claim their wasn't much difference between PSVR and Rift after playing EVE:Valkyrie on both at GDC.

If you look at current 1080p/60fps titles on PS4 this is at best what we could expect from AAA PSVR games, witch is fine honestly. (Probably a little less as it needs to be 100% locked with no dips)

Seems pretty exaggerated comment and from a deepthroat. I suppose the PC industry fears that Sony might actually pull this off this, and if so, it would really be hard to justify the steep price tag of PC gaming rig.

Personally the NEO is more driven by 4K video playback, because sony is pushing hard on that on every platform from tv to video etc. That and the fact that could get the die shrink cheaper by going for the new architecture, rather than using original.

We'll find out soon enough.

We don't have to 'find out', we've got hundreds of articles, previews and Youtube vids to show this article is absolutely ridiculous.

So, I don't believe this for two reasons.

1. The Neo isn't allowed to have exclusive VR modes according to the documents that were leaked regarding Neo.

2. I've used PSVR on a regular PS4 and it runs fine. (I even watched him set it up before I used it.)

This may be talking about a specific game,or maybe about the unit before they added the external processing unit, but as it is now it's fine on a regular PS4.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I imagine this being so if the vr game in question is aiming to deliver graphics comparable to non-vr titles.

btw, $400 for VR, maybe $400 for a ps4 neo, plus other costs would be like $900, that's crazy for the normal consumer who just want a VR for the normal PS4. Maybe the games are going to be masterpieces??
