You got triggered because he stated 2 facts?
many third party games, like Fallout and The Witcher just run so much better and the load times are refreshing -OP
when I buy a game its rarely more then $40 when I feel like I am getting the best version! -OP
Anything else in that post is just reaching. OP clearly wanted to have a positive conversation about PC gaming, but you wanted to see some kind of agenda against consoles tho.
@Ruler: What are you even arguing at this point? That PC isn't successful? Or are you going off topic to say PS4 is more successful?

The gaming side of PC is seeing its biggest growth in like Forever as you say. Japan devs finally see the PC as a healty platform for their games. AAA Piracy is pretty much wiped out thanks to denevo or whatever its called. PC Hardware is now crazy cheap for great Nextgen performance. A library that consoles could only dream about and deals to match. Once you go PC its hard to go back. |

No where in the orignal OP's message did he make this into a "Console VS PC" thread and no where does it say that in the title. Its YOU that seen this thread as a Console vs PC thread and its YOU that turned it into one. You dont have to think that any good thing a person has to say about PC means they are running down your console of choice but yet you do. Like i said you should just keep out of any positive PC threads. IF it doesnt have "Console vs PC" in the title i think thats a good sign that thats not what its about. |
Actually, as you can see from the bolded part in the first quoted comment here, you brought this up first. That's usually what you do, in fact. It's mild, but you do make a jab at consoles in most PC discussion.
That being said, I am totally against what Ruler is doing. He always feels the need to bring his unreasonably biased opinions into any discussion, and hardly ever backs them with any tengible arguments other than "I love this so it's better than everything else".
Just recently, the "discussions" he had about the technical merits of games like Witcher 3 and Uncharted 4 when compared to Final Fantasy XV gave many a headache.
I figures a while ago that discussing anything with him is an exercice in futility.
@OP: I agree. The PC, especially with Steam Big Picture Mode, has become a very interesting environment to play games. I prefer playing sitting on a couch and on a big screen, controller in hand. Never been much of a K/M kind of guy (although I can't wait to play Thinbleweed Park!), so Steam's BPM is a godsent to people like me. You get to play console type games running the way they always should, if you have the rig that allows it. I still consider that a more expensive alternative, But that's mostly because I don't lile to settle for cheap when I upgrade my PC. xD
Ruler said: you are derailing the thread, this thread was always about PC gaming vs Console Gaming/which is the better eco system and comparing the two |
The OP is giving his opinion on why he enjoys being a PC gamer. You can share your opinion as well...as you've already done, but turning this into yet another PC vs. console thread is very clearly not what the OP intended.
I know we don't have a prominent PC community here in comparision to consoles, but that doesn't excuse this attitude. Knock it off...contribute to the thread constructively or not at all.

I thought it was always a good time to be a PC gamer. With steam and the abundance of games it has, if you had to stick to one console, you can't really go wrong with a PC...

I'm really hesitant on whether I should give up Smash and MK8 for the PS4...Smash is simply that great.

I was a high end PC gamer during the best times to have a PC, late 80's to early noughties. Nowadays I don't have the time for serious PC gaming anymore, I can hardly keep up with ps4 exclusives. PC gaming for me is currently restricted to my laptop when I have some time left over here or there. I still managed to amass a huge amount of playtime on Elite Dangerous somehow.
Steam sales only stress me out. I simply do not have the time to even start up all the stuff I can buy. Anyway in between the gaps of every day life I'm playing The Way, excellent game. I've given up on my steam back log and wish list, can't keep up with what I backed on Kickstarter either. Mods lol, who has time for that :)
Ofcourse it wasn't any different in the 90's, except I mostly pirated everything so it didn't feel like a waste not playing games for more than a few minutes :/
The thing that is awesome with PC is those Free2Play games. And I can tell you that the ones I played are quite enjoyable (Most of them are more enjoyable than the ones I payed money for on consoles and handhelds)
But those said games are all Online. If You find "Always Online" quite daunting then it might be a huge negative for you on PC gaming.

I wouldn't call that the best time for PC gaming. In the late '80s most PC games still had EGA graphics with bad scrolling and bad Adlib sound (or even worse: PC speaker sound)... a much cheaper Amiga made more sense for gaming back then.
In the early '90s PC gaming improved a lot with more and more games supporting 256-color-VGA (many VGA-cards still had problems with 2d-scrolling) + Soundblaster/Roland soundcards, but the showcases were still rare (Wing Commander 1 + 2, Ultima 6 + 7, Civilization, Wolfenstein 3D, Monkey Island 2, Indy 4, Links 386).
IMHO the "golden age of PC gaming" began in 1993, when games could be improved in many different ways):
1995 - 1996 was another important milestone for PC gaming:
