I want to jam about a vital part of any healthy relationship: trust.

Trust is hard to gain and easy to lose, so says the aphorism.

In 2016, who do you trust in the video game industry? Who do you trust to turn out good, unbroken games? Who do you trust to tell the truth?

Do you place much trust in publishers? In developers? In the press? In fellow fans? Why or why not?

When you pre-order a game, do you trust it to be good? When a big name in the industry makes a promise, do you trust them to keep it?

Fromsoftware, media molecule and naughty dog only come to mind.

I trust that Bioware will make a decent RPG experience

I trust Rocksteady with Batman

I trust Square Enix will make great Play Arts Kai figures and an occasional must play RPG

And I trust the gaming community to over-react to everything and provide me with great entertainment throughout my day

I dunno who to trust anymore these days. I don't trust groups for certain things anymore, like releasing broken games or delaying games.

There is one thing I do trust though: Nintendo releasing good, unbroken games.

No one, except maybe Valve and Nintendo, and even then, not 100%.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Trust is a strong word, there are perhaps only 2 companies I trust to deliver. Naughty Dog, when it comes to strongly story based, character driven games and possibly Housemarque, since Super Stardust they haven't disappointed me.

Don't ruin the moment

The only company I really get to "trust" is Croteam, but because they seem a bunch of nice people who simply enjoy making games, without any more pretenses, megalomania or façades.

As far as identities on this industry goes, I trust Swery65. I used to trust Inafune and Molyneux (I still like them both), but...

I like opinions from Colin and Greg, Gamespot has been fairly decent recently. I have a fair idea of companies that seem to get a free-pass when they mess up (like Activision / Blizzard and Ubisoft). I trust Naughty Dog and R* and Sony generally do the right thing these days but I just take them at face value.

I always watch gameplay, listen to impressions in forums and on my friends podcast.... if available I try a beta. If it is a sequel I know what to expect generally. EZA are great too. Angry Joe can be very good at times...

With all that input, I make a decision.

Never ever listen to or engage with gamestop or game employees.

Housemarque
Naughty Dog
CD Project Red
From Software

I trust Nintendo. They have missteps, but when push comes to shove, I trust them.
