Those are some optimistic projections... I'm curious how optimistic theirs were for the Wii U.

Funny that you mention this.

Just like pretty much every games retailer, Gamestop were bullish on the Wii U.

They noted that they had nearly 500,000 customers who had registered interest in buying a Wii U and over 1.2 million software reservations. They noted that this was double the demand that they'd seen for Wii and that this meant that the console would likely have a strong launch. They even went as far as saying that they might not be able to satisfy demand.

20 million in two years would certainly be a success given Nintendo's present situation heh, I'm really not sure what demographics they appeal to anymore outside of lifelong fans like myself.

20mil in 2 years? They be lucky to sell 20mil lifetime. I have bought every nintendo console since the 64 but i wont be buying their next console because of the disappointment with my wii u.

Ah that's a shame, I rather loved the Wii U myself.

Yeah, I can't really see them being pessimists in their projections... I wouldn't be surprised if these are the sorts of things they try to encourage their shareholders with.

Well, technically any console has potential to do the same.. :/

WiiU actually had a decent launch. It's what came (or rather, didn't come) afterwards that killed it.
