Forums - Gaming Discussion - new Mighty No. 9 Trailer "Masterclass" (10% positive votes!)

Graphics look like a 2008 XBLA indie. Very bland graphics, nothing stylized, should've been cel shaded, or at least used shaders to make it look interesting. Those 3D environs are awfully empty.

Wish I could say the gameplay looked interesting, but I feel like I've seen the "shoot and dash" mechanic in about a hundred other indie games.

I don't think it was ever in 2d in the first place. I think the trailer just used the wrong approach in showcaing its visuals. It looks OK when it's showing the gameplay.

What Im trying to say and failing to communicate apparently is that they shouldnt had decided to go for a 3D rendered game.

Look at Cuphead (2D and amazing):

^ this is a better Megaman, than Might No 9.

Sad Im saying this, but it looks that way imo.

The developer of Megaman isnt able to do what he did in his younger days it appears.

I doubt it, cuphead is extremly limited in gameplay, it will be a sidescrolling aracde type game. Just look at the footage, no ladders, no different planes to go up etc. The art style is quite bottlenecking the gameplay, mightyno9 will have better gameplay

The trailer pissed me off. I stoped watching half way.

Seriously... don't tell me what is cool or not. I don't need you to tell me what's cool. Show me your game and i will decide if its cool. Telling me what to think only agravates me.

I was hoping they would downsize (or remove) the font on those point notifications. It's really ugly.

Can't believe it went from

To this nonsense...

I went from, this game might look amazing to... Glad I never back unfinished games...

The trailer is soo bad that it is in the MasterClass of bad trailers huehuehue

This pic is a concept art, it was never supposed to look like that. I think mightyno9 looks like any indie game these day

I know it is but they sold people with that concept art because the backers thought it would look similar to that... The end result is it not looking anything like that...

And it depends on what you mean by any indie game. There have been indie games that looked quite nice like journey, limbo, the upcoming No Man's Sky, etc etc etc. But it is true that majority does look like arse.

So true! I mean I did notice ome nice particle effects but somehow the presented gameplay looked awfully empty...
Now I totally know I´m not their target group (never been a fan of mega man) but I think making fun of the people that made your game possible (let´s face it the style is totall anime) is not cool, even if it´s a joke.

@Captain_Yuri

Your picture looks so awesome and my video so bad. That's worse as how Ubisoft games look before and after release!

Well, the gameplay scenes look ok I guess but the sequences are like wtf...

Speaking of Ubisoft  games, ironically this game probably would have looked absolutely gorgeous in the UbiArt engine. Rayman legends has exactly the kind of look they seemed to be going for with the concept art. Of course that would have required artists to actually hand draw modular backrounds, foregrounds, middlegrounds and objects as well as do frame-by-frame animations for some of the characters moves.

They probably didn't have the budget for any of that, even though they hit high and above their goal. Now we just get an ugly game.

Wow! Why the backlash? It doesn't look that bad. I mean, I'm not backing or buying but it looks...passable. It'll sell decent enough across all the platforms it's on.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
