Forums - Politics Discussion - How Should Robot "Racism" Be Handled?

Thinking about articles talking about how robots took the jobs of people (and boredom) got me thinking: How will we handle resistance towards robots? As the decades progress I could see hostility increasing against them. And as robots become more and more advanced I do believe we may find it more common to find robot "racism" -which may bother people when they finally do look and act very similar to us.

Should governments take preventive measures to stop future discrimination towards robots? Or would you encourage the "robotist" mindset?

And where do we define when a robot is sentient enough to obtain rights? Should a robot that is built to make cars get the same rights as a robot that walks and talks like you and I?

I'm rambling out of boredom XD But they are ideas I'm interested in knowing your guys' opinions on

Lets wait until we have real sentient robots walking around on their own, liveing around us before we start worrying about that stuff?

Its a issue that ll first kick in when we develope a true A.I.
Even then, there will be people that question if its really "alive" and deserveing of same rights.

On on the side of humans btw :p

if they look like this:

And act well enough, its gonna be hard to really hate them though.

Btw if your "thinking" about this stuff you should probably play Detroit when it comes out.

Bet you it toys with your emotions and before its done you ll be on the side of the robots :)

Depends on how things go... If it ends up like no one has to work anymore and robots do everything for us and we all live in greatness then I doubt its much of a problem. But if Robots make people homeless by taking over everything, then it will become a real issue.

As robots do start to take on more and more things, the governments will hopefully act quick enough to start changing the ways that everything works otherwise RIP.

If robots ever get personally offended about being discriminated against then it may be an issue. But if it's just stupid people getting offended on their behalf... who gives a fuck?

Just because its not the robots complaining doesn't mean we should purposely treat them like shit. When we wake up one day in the matrix and can't figure out what happened I'm gonna punch you in the face lol. Can someone explains why in all of the prominet AI stories we wind up acting like jackasses and they revolt and kill us.  Isn't there something - anything - we could  do out of our own self interest in an attempt to not be killed off?  Or are we just determined as a species to destroy ourself by any means necessary?

Robots are a human creation made to be submitted, I don't think they can be cosindered our equals since they were made to be "slaves" in the first place...

If this whole thing of replacing real people with robots gets out of hand I can see countries making laws AGAINST the use of robots for specific factory jobs...

I don't think the first part is neccessarily true. Some robots may be made (in the future in this example) to be just like humans. I think the line between what is and isn't true sentience is where the debate of if they should be considered equals, starts

I'd be jealous of their immortality, but that's about it. I'd accept a sentient AI. As the only difference is one was made by science I'm made by 2 people having sex.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Sooo, what would be the purpose of a robot made to be just like a human ? a robot by definition is a semi-perfect machine, why would you want to humanize it, making it more flawed ?
