Forums - Gaming Discussion - PC master race! Are you impressed by Uncharted 4's graphics?

As a PC gamer. Uncharted 4 as one whole package...

has exceeded all games before it. 513 49.00%

I've seen better. 239 22.83%

Roughly the same as games I've played on PC. 93 8.88%

Indifference. I do not own a high end PC. 202 19.29%

Total:1,047

So, PC gamers were asked what we think of Uncharted 4 graphics. We gave our answer. Some of you guys didn't liked some the answers? Too bad. Here are a few facts:

1. Theres no such thing as a PC master race. We use the nomenclature because is funny.

2. Is the game running only at 1080p, 30 fps? Then it means it's shackled by the hardware limitations. Sorry but we are used to higher everything.

3. We aren't saying the game has no merits at all. Just that we have seen and expect better.

4. PC gamers aren't lying/kidding/in denial just because some of them didn't give the answer some of you hoped. Was this intended to be a yes or yes question?

5. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Were you looking for PC gamers "approval" with such a thread? PC gamers didn't go making threads of Start Citizen asking specifically to console gamers what they thought of its graphics. Why should we care what console gamers think? We already know they are amazing. We don't need them to tell us, unless... WE HAD DOUBTS.

Lets be honest, this is what it all comes down to. The only thing that is shown here is the sheer insecurity of... sigh. A few PC gamers aren't impressed? So what? Deal with it. Move on. Enjoy the game.

the detail is pretty insane.

its definitely up there with some of the best. the Naughty Dog devs got everything they could out of the PS4 for sure

Star Citizen, is it this game?

Thats got to be a Joke Right?

Yeah it's apples to oranges. Also, the module you're looking at is probably the least ideal for Star Citizen, it's scope is beyond gigantic, the emphasis is something like galactic exploration, warfare, and trading on a scale never seen before. Only No Man's Sky or perhaps Elite : Dangerous are in the same general vein, but they are also quite different.

I think UC4 has hands-down better facial work and motion cap, but that makes sense, it's very focused on the characters. With Star Citizen, the emphasis is on the ships, universe, and physics/lighting of vast environments.

It's a bit like comparing a Corvette to the international space station. Or a baked potato with bacon and sour cream with the 1977 David Bowie album 'Low'. Yes, both are video games, but they're ludicrously impossible to compare.

Here's a better video to get the kind of general idea. UC4 is a single player experience unless you step into the pretty small-sized maps of the MP (with lowered visual detail), whereas Star Citizen is a garguantuan connected multiplayer universe.

And no, I'm not saying either one is 'superior' to the other in every respect. They both do incredible things in utterly different ways and for vastly different goals.

I'm not a member of the PC master race, but given that UC4 runs at either 1080p/30fps or 900p/60fps, I imagine most high end PC players would find those metrics quite underwhelming.

1080p/60fps is often cited as the minimum acceptable standard by serious PC gamers, and many consider even this too low.

Holy shit and here i was thinking that playing thousands of hours playing pc games would make me a serious pc gamer, nah i need to play at 1080p ...

What am i then ... a peasant pc gamer? Or maibe a wannabe pc gamer ?

Never in that post did I say this applied universally.

thats not true they will stop working one day on your new PC espacially dueto a new iteration of windows

May I use the time machine you used to confirm that?

Otherwise look up windows compatibility and virtualization before making blind statements like this.

I never had any issue with any game that I have played so far on my pc

I can play games that were released in the 1990s on my pc. It helps when you know how to use computers other than posting on forums.

You only download games Brazilzero, you rebuy old games from GOG and say: here it works, i spend money on an old game again. These versions are modefied in order to work on new OSs.

But have you ever tried to buy a used PC game disc from the 90s or even PS2 era? These games wont work anymore on your new computer on a new OS. This will be the future of many PC games doesnt matter if you download them from steam, they will stop working one day if you have a newer OS from Microsoft, and not every devoloper is like Blizzard and will patch them.

Even with Virtualization it wont work with every game, its so much of hazzle over just owning a PS1, PS2 and PS3 for example. In fact its easier and more convenient to emulate console games on PC than actually trying to get the equilant PC ports running on a mordern PC OS.

I was a PC gamer for almost a decade last gen unlike you who only recentley got into PC gaming. I know what i am talking about

Eh? I'm not really sure what you're talking about. I can still play my old DOS copies of Doom, Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny, and Warcraft and Warcraft II, amongst hundreds of others on my W7 and W10 64-bit systems. DOSBox is my friend. It's actually REALLY rare for an old game to be unplayable. Hell, I even transferred my 5.25" copy of Thexder to 3.5" floppy so I could install it using my USB floppy drive on my i7-4790K box. It works fine. That's THIRTY YEARS OLD.

My first gaming was done on an Atari 400 'computer', and later Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, NES, IBM PC, etc/infinity. I can play all of those games on my PC right now with no problems.

UC4 looks good for what its trying to do, so does Driveclub, Ryse, The Order and Qauntum Break. UC4 on scale is nothing amazing. Its far from the be all, end all game.

Want to see something truly amazing, play Crysis 3 on PC at 4k with all settings on high and look how good a last gen game compares to current gen. UC4 isnt a game that pushes tech, its cleverly done. Star Citizen will show you what power really is.
As for UC4, its impressive, but its not a game ill talking about visuals. Its debatable if it looks better then The Order or Ryse but for the best looking game Star Citizen takes the cake.. easily.

Movie based games will always look good because of there limited design. Play an openworld game like Witcher 3 on PC and there arent no short cuts to looking good.

Remember, games will always look better on PC, if UC4 releases on PC it will look better. Theres nothing consoles can do that a well built PC cant. The only way those companies try to beat PC gaming is by locking the game off PC.

I am. Could it use more horsepower? Yes. But for what it is it's a marvel. I'm sure having a large budget and a good development team makes for having the best assets anyway.

PC will always look better, if you have the money, obviously on a $300-400 pc versus this game, uncharted looks better.

Now uncharted has a lot of detail in it, and a lot of love from Naughty dog which is just an amazing developer, some things, like characters emotion, eyes, teeth, look maybe the best ever even vs PC.

But as a complete package when you start thinking about 120hz smoothness, total war scale games (like recently released warhammer TW) 4k resolution, etc etc PC's is landslides ahead, since the PS4 was outdated when it was released.

Now Uncharted4 is a technological masterpiece fur running this decent on a console relatively weak, but comparing PC to PS4 or any console will just have one outcome: High end PC, where your wallet hurts :)
