Forums - Gaming Discussion - PC master race! Are you impressed by Uncharted 4's graphics?

As a PC gamer. Uncharted 4 as one whole package...

has exceeded all games before it. 513 49.00%

I've seen better. 239 22.83%

Roughly the same as games I've played on PC. 93 8.88%

Indifference. I do not own a high end PC. 202 19.29%

Total:1,047

For all the talk of Star Citizen, I actually think the most impressive looking game out there right now is Star Wars Battlefront maxed out/modded.

Ryse maxed out is a sight to behold also.

Modded Battlefront is probably the most impressive thing right now that's out.

Any Cry Engine game (Like Ryse, Crysis etc') that has a plethora of graphics mods is a sight to behold visually.

This is Crysis 1 with a heap of mods, released almost 10 years ago:

Battlefront has fantastic art/assets which allows it to pull ahead of most other titles, because regardless of how many graphics effects you throw at a game... If you still have a blurry textures and simply geometry... It ain't going to look pretty.
It's also one of the reasons why Uncharted 4 looks so pleasing.

Star citizen should not have went after great graphics and instead focused on its scope. Unless they can gain another 50mil or so from crowdfunding or a company funds them the game will never be completed. No mans sky had the right idea visually.

A game like this, graphics lends itself to scope, damaging a ship for instance, having electricity arcing across it's bow with a dizzying array of lighting effects, particles rushing out, allows you to have a visual represenation of the damage, allowing you to target repair efforts or for an enemy to target your damaged  points.

There are cloud/smoke/particle effects like Nebula's that you can hide out in, use the sun to obscure your presence.

As for money... They are still taking in cash, anywhere between 1-5 million bucks a month, that can increase depending if they throw out trailers or put something new up for sale.

At $115 million though currently, it is one of the largest development budgets of all time, higher than even Grand Theft Auto 4 and that released on 3 platforms and will likely end up beating Grand Theft Auto 5 (23 million to go) which was released on 5 platforms... And overhauled from it's original release.

It also doesn't need to spend a cent on advertising as it *is* the advertising, it has raised most of it's funds thanks to word of mouth and PC gamers desires for a real PC exclusive.
Still. Console gamers should be happy for Star Citizens success, hopefully it's success means a reinvigoration in the genre leading to more games on all platforms.

God damn that woodland looks pretty good for 10 years old with those mods.

Also I was amazed by the explosion physics in SC as well as destruction to the ships:

I just noticed after reading the other UC4 Screenshot thread that some of you have decided to make needless veiled jabs, I'd love to know why.

Some users here on PC have already said their piece about the game and even gave it praise, is that not good enough or something?. I can always bring up the comments in general if we really need to get down to the core of the obvious issue because I'm totally up for some high noon.

I tend not to pay attention to the console specific threads for those reasons, I have a habit of voicing my opinion which can derail things, not to mention those threads tend to be pretty toxic to most "outsiders" of the platform.

With that said. Those who are making "jabs" feel free to participate in this discussion, we don't bite. ;)

Yeah the explosion physics are impressive, it will be interesting to see how that effects gameplay, for instance, say you are venting air on part of the ship and trying to escape the enemy, it should alter your travel projectory somewhat. - They have certainly given allot of attention to the smaller details that's for sure.

There is also Cyberpunk 2077 coming from CD Projekt Red, they stated the PC as the lead platform, so I'm expecting some impressive visuals.

That last part, I dunno, I mean they came out with this: http://n4g.com/news/1729912/no-witcher-3-without-consoles-says-developer

I find it hard to take their word that they will absolutely 100% deliver to the note after what happened with Witcher 3 and the visuals being changed before release. I'd rather not get my hopes up that they will give PC an absolute show stopper with zero compromise because chances are there have already been some made already (some months back an article on DSOG showed us a slight snippet of the game's UI and it definitely wasn't M+K based for sure).

I think they learned their lesson with that though.
PC gamers tend not to enjoy having parity (Features, Graphics etc') with consoles and they were ridiculed pretty heavily because of that.

Even Microsoft's attempts have been shot down recently. PC gamers have a degree of expectation which can get pretty vocal if they aren't met. :P For better or for worst.

I would hope that they had learned something, I mean it's one thing for forcing parity but it's another to just throw in a few options that demand a lot more power but provide little visual gains. Honestly though I think it's only fair to lend more to visuals for those that pay for more high end hardware than deciding to screw them over at every turn.

How is people paying for high end hardware the problem of the game makers? What do game makers make from people buying such hardware?

That's entitlement, and no, it isn't fair to ask developers to spend more money on a version of their game (as if it wasn't expensive enough to develop all those versions at once) just because you bought high end hardware. On most occasions, the game will run better than on consoles even if they don't create a special version just for you.

Not to mention that the majority of the buyers, comes from the console owners.
