I never nickname them! I got very upset when I accidentally did it once...

Usually do, though the quality of the nickname depends on whether I was going to use it often or not.

I used to... I nicknamed Scumbag(Geodude), Douchebag(Onyx), Dio(Mewtwo) & Kars(Machoke), i think that was back in christmas 2007.

I do since I don't like having my Pokemon names in ALL CAPS

But even after they removed that in the later games, I still like to nickname them to something interesting :p

What about Pokemon like Charizard? So it used to be named Charmander. Then you changed it's name to Charmeleon just because it evolved. Then you changed it's name to Charizard because it evolved again. What if it has a Mega Stone? Are you going to call it Mega Charizard X AND Charizard AND Mega Charizard Y, depending on your mood?

I really need to impress upon you all how stupid that is. Imagine if you had a kid. You name it Baby, because it's a baby. Then you rename it Kid when it's a kid. Then Teen when it's a Teen. Then Adult when it's an adult, but also Engineer and Golfer when you feel like it. And is every engineer supposed to be called Engineer? What if I'm in a room full of engineers? How is Engineer supposed to know which Engineer is being called? Imagine how fucking confusing it must be growing up like that.

Calling Pokemon by their current species name makes absolutely no sense when you think about a Pokemon's role in that world.

Ok I lol'd. (Edit: no seriously, I really need to impress upon you how great that was. That second paragraph. It is a masterpiece. Congratulations.)

Still, technically I guess a mega evolved Charizard is still a Charizard.

Also, Pokemon don't speak their own names. That's an anime thing. A stupid anime thing.

Back in the 90's it was. Sadly, now it's pretty much taken over everything and the only thing that's still (almost) intact are the games. I just hope they stay (almost) intact forever. I cringe really hard with Pokémon in Smash, Pokken, the anime and whatever else - I really, really wish I don't have to one day cringe hard when actually playing a Pokémon game.

Edit: oh and by the way, I have 3 cats, one of which is actually named cat. (I'm not proud of it.)

I died a little inside when they changed Pikachu's in game cry to the anime one.

And it's okay, as long as you didn't first name it Kitten.

I've never nicknamed my Pokemon. Okay. That was a lie. I did it one time in 4th grade, and that was when I nicknamed my Dodrio, "F*ckB*tch"(without the asterisk).

I named oddish "pokejoints" but apparently it's 'inappropriate' for the newer series.

Only time I named my pokemon was when I could think of something funny for it

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

every time I play pokemon silver I choose totodille and put your nickname " Toto " :3
