Forums - Politics Discussion - Ukrainian NPPs are in critical condition -- former president of the Energoatom

In case you forgot, here's a good reminder for ya.

Nuclear power plants in Ukraine are in the most critical condition for the last 25 years of country's independence according to Andrey Derkach, former president of Energoatom, a company that operates all NPPs in the Ukraine:

"Currently there're only 7 units alive (out of 15 -- mai), two just have been disabled due to emergency yesterday. Zaporozhskaya NPP has only 2 units working out of 6.", -- he said.

...

Earlier that day Igor Nasalik, the Minister of Energy and Coal Mining, has expressed his concern about frequent stoppage of the NPPs units. He connected this to unsatisfactory work done in the field for the last year and a half. Minsiter has emphasized that one of the key problems is the fact that Energoatom bank accounts have been blocked recently:

"SBU (Ukrainian secret service -- mai) and other responsible authorities that have been working on this, considered the debt (of the Energoatom -- mai) a criminal case. All accounts have been disablebed because of that... This creates very dangerous situation for our nation."

...

2 units that have been disable last day by automatics are back online. Remaining units are currently under maintance.

The story about Westinghouse fuel for Ukrainian NPPs would be just icing on the cake for guinea pigs in Ukraine and everyone around.

Everything will be alright but in case it wont...
