I think it's more likely just an error in communication. As you say, "Sony plays the PR game like everybody else", and yet they've never mentioned one of their previous first-party PS4 titles selling more than 2.7 million first-week. I feel like that's something they'd have mentioned :p

So shipped it's already over 4m. Uncharted 4 is a beast.  Sony must be so happy with uncharted 4, MLB 16 and ratchet all doing excellent.  Great 2016 so far.
