Forums - Sales Discussion - Uncharted 4 first week sell-through surpass 2.7 million, fastest-selling PS4 first party title to-date in NA and PAL Region

I think two important thing that is being missed in this debate are:

1) early / release sales are usually at full price, meaning even if it is front loaded, it doesn't mean it will be less profitable.

2) just because it's bundled, it doesn't mean the game is free.

Ultimately it's about how much revenue the game makes and this game not only has a lengthy campaign but it also has:

1) mods and cheat modes for replayability
2) collectibles to come back for
3) a mp which is fairly good and with microtransactions
4) sp dlc that will probably bring back gamers similar to TLOU
5) additional modes that will be added.

Due to the above, you cannot compare it QB or ROtTR it terms of replayability / trade in time. Also, it is the uncharted game. Many people will hold onto it just for that reason.

This is the type of stuff I am talking about. We celebrate something and someone comes in to derail and flip into something negative with nothing more then their fake opinion (because trolling isn't an opinion) and we don't have to give in to that kind of behavior.

Jesus H Christ, this is getting beyond belief. I'm scouting the internet to see how these numbers are being interpreted and I'm seeing a new line of approach throughout the XB1 community. NOW it's about how much money UC4 earned compared to Halo5 and the attach rate; ANYTHING but acknowledge UC4 sold well. It's going to be Montypythonesque before too long.

It would be great if we as a community were able to telepathically agree upon ignoring obvious trolling accounts/posts. But that's a community effort, and when one of us caves, the rest fall like dominos.

That's like over 100m in profit for ND/Sony in its first week!

Probably less, since manufacturing and shipping plus having each retailer take a chunk of the money... You know?

To all of you comparing it to Halo 5 and Mario Kart 8, remember... Just be happy that your bias is being successful without dragging down others, that's petty and makes you petty by default.

And those claiming it to be the best selling exclusive of the gen, hold onto your horses until it passes Mario Kart 8's 8 (ha) million and what's to come.

And on topic: I think ND are overrated as hell and wish they did something out of their comfort zone, but its nice to see stories of success such as this and Splatoon, as they show that the industry isn't slowing down regardless of how shitty some companies are nowadays.

Not sure why everybody is so staunchly opposed to the notion that Uncharted 4 may have underperformed. Is it so strange to think that perhaps a PlayStation exclusive can't outperform an Xbox exclusive like Halo or Gears? Despite the massive success of the console and Sony's best efforts, Uncharted 4 still failed to perform above or on par with either of these games, or many of the multiplatform games of this gen and last.

This is not to ridicule you but you're so close to being the new "VGC Meme" even rivaling the famous "Global in the US" :)

The $400 mill in Microsoft's PR statement included hardware revenue, accessories, special editions (EVERYTHING). Why do you think Microsoft chose to include hardware revenue in Halo 5's numbers? Why do you think Microsoft didn't provide a breakdown of software and hardware revenue? Why do you think Microsoft never provided any sales numbers?

If you do a little background search you'd see that retailers were disappointed with Halo 5 sales and that Halo 5's first week player activity was only about half of Halo 3's first week player activity.

"GameStop dominates in-store sales of video games, so it’s odd that Microsoft would describe a game as a success at the same time that the chain called it a disappointment. The diverging accounts of Halo's performance are a reminder of the difficulty of determining how well a video game launch actually went. Companies say what forwards their agenda, and not much more. "

"The information Microsoft did put out suggests that Halo 5's launch wasn't as successful as the headline of its press release. The company said gamers logged 21 million hours of total playing time in the week that Halo 5 went on sale. That compares with the 31.4 million hours Microsoft said users spent playing Halo 4 in the five days after its release and the 40 million hours it claimed players spent with Halo 3 in its first week. "

Id also like to ask for your PSN ID. I hope you'll accept my friend request.

And no I don't add people on PSN.

How convenient. I'm looking forward to hear your "authentic" opinion on the game. Because you're a man of truth, right?

OT: Congrats on the great game and deserving great sales ND and SIE.
