Forums - Sony Discussion - Uncharted 4 gameplay shot. Naughty Dog is edging closer to the uncanny valley

What got my attention is that characters models react to situation. Victor is sweetly where he should be and mud acts realistically. Never seen such attention to detail.

Your picture does not support your point well at all. The cliff face texture is blurry, the bush on the right is growing very unnaturally and the water shows no signs of splashing and appears to end abruptly lower left

Probably to the trained eye, but not to the untrained eye that isnt looking for flaws. Obviously the artistic direction is still constrained by the fact that its still a game. Naughty Dog wants make you feel a certain way while climbing with unbelievable moments and this takes unnatural rock formation, but were getting there for sure. As I said, were nearing closer, which doesnt assume were there yet.

You dont need to be trained to know how rocks look and how nature behaves. You are failing to make your point at all.  I think that picture looks average poor version of reality.

Uhm...that's the shot you use to make this thread? Tbh that pic looks pretty ass. Not saying Uncharted 4 isn't gorgeous, I've seen enough screens and footage to know it is, but that shot is pretty bad imo

Am I the only one who thinks this game is overrated? Yes visually it looks amazing but to me it is not a good Uncharted game. I love 1 2 3 and would say it is (until now) one of the best if not the best games series ever.

Uncharted 4 just feels, well different. For the reason of spoilers I will not go in to detail but it feels like I should have bought a walking simulator or a film. Disappointed is not even the word, I even thought maybe it is because I waited 4 years and getting older but when you read the same gripes about the game I know it just is not me.

I think they tried too hard on the visuals and forgot about the gameplay.

Never would I think I would say this about a Nathan Drake adventure but Uncharted 4 is a bore fest.

The gameplay is the best Uncharted gameplay we've ever got : stealth, ropes, allies, overall movements and weapons, everything is a lot better than before. I just played the ND Collection a few months ago (played the original games years ago), Uncharted 4 is easily the best game in the series with Uncharted 2 (UC2 has some awesome scenes with the train and the tank). Yes, it has a slow start, but saying "it's a walking simulator" just let me think you didn't touch the chapters 6 to 20... (or you know, you just signed up today and wrote 2 comments in 2 different threads in 3 minutes saying the game is a bore fest, so you really must hate it...)

I am on chapter 16 it feels like a chore to pick up and play again. It simply does not give me that feeling of excitement like the others did.

Like I say I could go in to detail but that would include spoilers.

Post count? Why does that even matter? And no I do not hate it I am just really disappointed with it. As I say it looks amazing but the game is a 6 at the most for me.

Definitely not a good picture. But I understand what you mean. I think a few developers have gotten this far tho.

Uncharted 4 looks awesome but the pic in OP is one of the worst I have ever seen of the game^^

Really no idea what's supposed to look good in that shot.

The game itself is definitely the best looking console game ever. Even talking about PC it is beating pretty much every game in many aspects if we don't talk about stuff like higher resolution/fps or maybe texture quality especially with modding.

Naughty Dog just set apart from the other developers.

Imagine what they could achieve without PS4's limitations... Now that would be impressive.
