Would just like to post that I just beat radiant dawn and it was amazing. I Found my best character without a doubt was shinron. I forged him a sick bow from the beginning and had him stomping out guys. Also haar, tibarn, and bastian were my strongest at the end.

Bastian even though he's almost level capped when you get him, eh? I trained up Soren to be my monster mage.

Nolan and Gatrie came out as my top footsoldiers. It doesn't seem fair for one unit to have as much strength, speed, and defense as Gatrie has by the end of the game unless that unit's name is Ike.

I used Rolf instead of Shinon because I don't like Shinon's attitude, but he kinda grew on me by the end of it. They're both so good that it might be worth training them both up next time around.

Now that I've learned how to properly exploit bonus XP, I've starting to really like characters you get before their first promotion. If they cap out a stat or two around level 15, you can cap most of the rest of their stats before you promote them. The next time I play through this game I'll likely use more units from the Daein campaign.

I think I'm going to finish Sacred Stones, grab Shadow Dragon, and then start all over with Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

thread is alive again! Yeah RD is good. Not as epic as PoR, but very enjoyable.

Ok continue discussion like there wasnt an 8 month break.

I actually found RD much better then POR.  The game was easily 2-3 times as long as POR WAS (because of the disk format change?).  Even the story in Radian dawn I enjoyed more which is weird.  I also had 3 people killed off in my first run through on RD compared to 1 on POR.

THe reason I chose to rebump this thread is because people on this site always bitch about not searching the forums to see if a topic was already made.  So I searched the forums and came up with this.

@Famous

Yeah I liked Bastian because of his versatility in magic spells.  I never had alot of money for arms scrolls so I was excited he came preloaded with A's and an S in his weapon grades.

It isn't 2-3 times as long. PoR is 27 is, i think, 28 or 29 chapters. This one is 38.

PoR has 30 maps, RD has 43 maps which makes it a 40-50 % longer game. (The percentage given isn't refering to number of maps but to hours of gameplay, although it doesn't make much difference.)

That means I've played almost 200 RD maps.... Crap...

How the heck did you make it in 228 turns? Was it on easy, so you rushed with some, and trained the rest?

This is the best strategy game of all time. And no, that's not an opinion - it's a fact.

Also, the percentage is given to the amount of maps...

40% longer would be 42 maps, 50% longer would be 45 maps.

So, by your claim, the maps average between 2% shorter and 5% longer in RD (vs PoR). Are you seriously saying they're exactly as long as each others (the maps)? I really doubt that.

Why is there always so much room between your paragraphs, or in this case, sentences?

Obviously I did it on easy and I used the characters with the biggest range to complete the objective as fast as possible (like part 2 final in two turns). Part 2 prologue and part 3 chapter 7 were really annoying, because they didn't end before "survive for x turns". Overall there were only two maps on which I needed ten turns or more.

Radiant Dawn is in fact the best strategy game of all time.

Regarding the percentage: You know, it's not normal that levels in two different games are about equally long, that's why I said it's refering to hours of gameplay (personally I needed 30 hours for PoR and 43 hours for RD on the first playthrough) instead of number of maps. The maps take on average about equally long to complete in these two FE games, although my PoR time is probably a little inflated because it was my first Fire Emblem game.

Because I suck at paragraphing. The alternative would be

Which, honestly, looks far less attractive to read.

I preferred Soren to Bastian. Mostly because you use him longer and can cultivate him to be stronger, and because Soren is inherently awesome. My other favorites were Nephenee, Jill, Haar, and Oscar

Last playthrough i actually managed to get Jill as my number one MVP by recruiting her off the Dawn Brigade and into the Greil Mercenaries, then she was on the fast track to fame and fortune, despite the fact that she was in constant competition with Haar for attention. I so love her

Juri? Who is that?

Bastian is the Count of Fayre, the one of the loyal Crimean nobles who was missing from part 2, and didn't reappear until Part IV Chapter 5 to help bring Izuka to justice for his crimes
