Gran Turismo Sport is Targeting 1080p 60FPS, Only 50% Complete

By Sikandar Mahmood   /   7 hours ago

Polyphony Digital showed its Gran Turismo Sport earlier and confirmed that it is targeting 1080p at 60FPS. This won’t be easy to achieve because Gran Turismo games are known to push the boundaries of what’s visually possible on PlayStation machines.

Early impression for the game are out but many publications seem to be unimpressed by the visual fidelity of Gran Turismo Sport. Some said that “Gran Turismo Sport isn’t the PS4’s visual showcase you had been expecting.” They are experienced reviewers and authors but they fail to mention that the game is only 50% complete, which is really odd.

This was stressed on a number of occasions during Polyphony Digital’s livestream where they showed new footage for Gran Turismo Sport.

Anyhow, for the time being you don’t need to worry about the game’s visuals as it will improve before release. However, what’s disappointing is that general public won’t have access to the game before release as originally promised.

Devs confirmed earlier that they won’t be doing a Gran Turismo beta because it is important to focus on completing the game.

That’s something that I’m very, very sorry about,” said Yamauchi while talking about the beta. “In order to do a beta test we have to make a gold master of the beta test code, and for us it actually takes as much effort as to finish the real master code of the actual game

Moreover, pre orders for the game are now live along with choices of different special editions. Polyphony will speak more about the game in the coming weeks, so check back for more updates.

How are you liking Gran Turismo Sport so far? Have you seen the new trailer?

Even this thread won't get a lot of traction cause this observation is a very dull one. Nowhere near as exciting as how underwhelming the game looks and how its a PS3 rehash.

Still got a good few months left.

But how long has this been in development? At least more than one year, right? If this is indeed accurate and Polyphony has this proyect at 50% of completion, a good few months is way too early. Sure, probably that first 50% is more meaty than the other 50%, but still...that's half the game development missing from the equation.

They said the build they were using for the stream was 50%. They very well could be further along than that, but just didn't prepare a demo for the current status of the game.

I hope people understand that a game that's 50% done isn't 50% of the way through its Dec cycle.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I think they meant 50% in term of ps4, ps4 neo and psvr

Yes, and the conversation will carry on elsewhere as if this information was never available.

The PS5 Exists.

D doesn't work that way.

As it stands. all the content they wanna put into the game may already be in there. Tracks, cars, game modes, ui.....etc. The remaining 50% could just be polish and balancing and bug fixing.

when game developers throw out numbers it really doesmt mean anything. How many times have we heard devs say they are using 100% of hardware only to have a game released months later that looks miles better than theirs with that dev saying they have room for improvement.

I don't think the game will look worlds better than what we have seen, but i know it will look better. A lot better. i am more concerned of how a game is coming along when the devs don't even have the guts to show in game footage but rather show us snazzy in engine trailers (looking at you Ubisoft) or gameplay of the game running on god knows what kinda PC rig.

GTS wasn't only showing in game footage, but they were actually showing live competition. And the game wasn't crashing or anything. That's a very good thing.

I smell a delay
