So youre saying because the US and UK were untouchable they were right in doing the same things like Japan did?

Trade embargos are an act of agression, North Korea was sanctioned since 20 years. And look at them now, they have their own nuke. Did these sanctions made it better?

Not saying they were right or wrong, just that no one else cared enough to want to do anything about it...

Trade embargoes are usually the result of an act of aggression rather than an act of aggression themselves. Cutting a country off from trade is a great way to stop them from behaving aggressively. Especially countries that are more heavily reliant on trade. Why would they want to attack other countries if they know that they'll be embargoed and therefore lose millions? As for North Korea... they weren't completely embargoed. China still traded with them. You have to wonder though if it had been a universal embargo maybe they would have changed their ways. As for them now having their own nukes, well that likely would have happened regardless of embargoes.

even china made some sanctions to north korea. If north korea would be as connected in trade like any country they wouldnt have devoloped a nuclear bomb. China trades maybe with north korea, and so used south korea to, but it was never as big to impact the country. Its something like 2 Billion $ which is nothing.

Or they would have both developed their nuclear arsenal and have the wealth to further arm and strengthen themselves.  The government of North Korea is cruel, controlling, aggressive, and certifiably insane.  Openly trading with them won't do a thing to change that.

As for Japan, the embargoes were put on them because they escalated their war in Asia, allied with Germany, openly ignored the Hague Convention and other international laws and treaties they signed when engaging the Chinese, and finally occupied regions of Southeast Asia by making use of said alliance to Germany.  The aggression and brutality of Japan's campaign was more than enough to justify - or even obligate - sanctions.  Yes, Japan took the less sensible route and raised the stakes but by no means did they *have* to do so.  If they had withdrawn from Southeast Asia and stopped trying to (brutally) conquer east Asia, they could have easily negotiated the lifting of said embargoes and put the resources gained to building up their nation rather than going a-conquering.

I don't think he should to be honest. It's in the past and obama didn't have anything to do with it. Also, white people shouldn't apologize for slavery. It's in the past and they don't have anything to do with it today.

Obama isn't just a person, he's also the foremost representative of "The American Government". His apology would not be a personal apology, but a "Governmental apology".

Kind of like how, if a CEO of a company makes a decision that harms a lot of people, then gets fired, the new CEO will apologise for what was done, despite not being involved in the decision or being in any way personally at fault.

That's idiotic. People will be apologizing til the end of time for something that happened ages ago. It's also dishonest because a person can't apologize for something they didn't do. I understand that apologizing in that way has become a trend but that doesn't mean they should keep doing that.

He most certainly will apologize, unfortunately. It's Liberal guilt. The Prime Minister of Canada (a Liberal) just recently appologed to East Indians for being turned away as illegals from our borders A HUNDRED YEARS AGO. Oh, and multiple Prime Ministers have already apologized for this same incident.

The way japanese government officials are pressuring the current POTUS to apologize is absolutely intolerable ...

With japanese nationalism on the rise, it's unwise for someone like US government officials to apologize on behalf of their past predecessors when it shows weakness ...

One more thing, the defeated don't deserve to demand an apology. That's for the victors to decide in earnest ...

When did Japanese government officials say they demand an apology from President Obama?? The overwhelming number of Japanese people just appreciate Obama's decision to visit Hiroshima.  We are more concerned about that racist fascist warmongering bigot Donald Trump who claims that Japan should have their own nuclear weapons .

From the linked article: "many American veterans and historians say that the attacks hastened the end of the war and saved thousands, if not millions, of additional lives."
Wait what? The war was basically over, in europe it already had ended, the Japanese were retreating. That sounds like a lot of rationalizing bullshit.

Sure, the japanese did cruel crimes of war. But saying the atomic bombs were needed to end the war quicker and with lesser deads is an outright lie.

Japan would not surrender, if it was not for the two atomic bombs.
It could be argued that the atomic bombs saved more lives and prematurely ended the second world war.
The Japanese government should apologise for the horrendous treatment Allied prisoners suffered at the hands of the Japanese soldiers.

Japanese government officials have apologized over 20 times about its imperial and wartime aggression. You are free to think those apologies are insincere, but an insincere apology is better than no apology at all. Which, by the way, is exactly how many apologies America has issued for their imperial aggression and slave trade. America has issued a statement of regret for the slave trade, but it waited until the Clinton administration to do it, and he was denounced by U.S. conservatives for doing so.

Nobody needs to say sorry what is done is done.

Lets focus on the world now and stop thinking of the past.
