Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony "Certainly Aware" of Fan Demand for New Crash Bandicoot

Sony is "certainly aware" that fans would like to see the Crash Bandicoot series return, according to SCEE CEO Jim Ryan. He made the comment in an interview with OPM UK (via PSU), but unfortunately, didn't say more.

"Um...we're certainly aware of the considerable affection--even reverence--in which the mighty Crash is held. But nothing to update at this stage in that area," he explained (via VideoGamer.com).

Recently, Sony confirmed that the Crash Bandicoot rights remained with Activision. The Call of Duty company said in 2013 that it "continue[s] to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life," though nothing has been announced.

The latest title to bear the jorts-wearing Bandicoot's name was mobile game Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2 in 2010.

always strikes me as weird when non-news like this is somehow news

Literally he's almost taking a jab at the fans by referencing how nuts they are for Crash at times, and people still find a way to call it a hint for a new game.

I've said this in one of the other twenty Crash threads this month, and I'll say it again: It's honestly worse than HL3 at this point.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I really hope that they´ll go smart about it, IF (big if) Sony ever decides to either buy or license the crash IP from Activision (let´s assume Acti is up for it). I don´t think crash would sell gangbusters nor would it be a super well received game critically so if it were up to me I´d hire an external dev and have like somebody from ND (some sort of manager that) "supervise" the development. This way Sony could label it a ND game (fanservice) while not having to waste ND´s time on a platformer. Win-Win I guess?
