Microsoft's software output?

Good, I'm not complaining. 47 20.35%

Not bad, but they can do better. 50 21.65%

Bad, I'm not happy. 134 58.01%

Am i the only one who have this impression? Recently I'm reading how many games Microsoft is adding to their backwards compatibility (which is nice), but they're having a poor 2016 so far regarding new titles: - Fable Legends: cancelled, Lionhead closed; - Project Spark: closed; - Phantom Dust: cancelled (not official but come on, you still believe it exists?); - Scalebound: delayed to 2017 - Recore: delayed (again, not official, but I think it's safe to say it). And maybe I'm forgetting something. The only game that came out is Quantum Break, which didn't actually set the world on fire. Not to say that their support for Windows 10 games is pretty bad, but this is another story. Microsoft's management of their first party software output has never been good to begin with this gen, but it's really becoming awful. It's almost like they are slowing giving up and that they don't care so much anymore. Even Phil Spencer stopped tweeting about his daily routine (or maybe the videogame media stopped making news for every tweet he's writing). I'm not expecting anything big at Microsoft E3 this year honestly, only games already announced and some sort of hardware revision. What do you think about it?

What is there to do? Phil Spencer only became head 2 years ago, that isn't much time for any reform. Any new games coming out would likely take a couple years longer to become a reality. Realistically, they need to just focus their efforts on their next-gen console, as its clear the XB1 has been a lemon for them. Hoping for the best, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

To all: I'm sorry about the thread format, something went wrong and I can't edit it right now. I'll correct it later in the day.

I try not to jump to conclusions based on small amounts of info, but it really feels like they're winding down the Xbox brand. It's starting to feel like they're going to scale everything back and just make as much as they can on multiplat releases before the end of the gen, then ditch the console business. I mean maybe they'll surprise us at E3, but that's how it feels at the moment.

Companies go through periods like this. Sony had it last year, Nintendo has stretches with not much on the WiiU.

They've had Quantum Break, Ori, Cobalt, and a new Killer Instinct already this year. Still got lots of big games coming this year.

I'm happy MS is doing a fan service like backwards compatibility that doesn't require you to pay to stream your already owned games over the Internet, or rebuy them digitally in order to be able to play them. Not to mention, how much effort do you really thing it takes for people to make this happen? I would imagine there is literally 0 affect on game development.

E3 is only a few weeks away.

Sea of Thieves? Cuphead?

They just released Quantum Break and have Sea of Thieves and ReCore coming soon.

I think they have a good balance old and new.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Porting these old games for BC doesn't take a fraction of the effort that developing new games does.

However, I will say it is a bit striking how much has changed in a year. I remember last year around E3, everything about the XBO seemed much more hopeful and positive, and this year has been the complete opposite. A lot of negative news. I hope they can pull out a good E3 again though. Plus they have a good lineup of exclusives for the second half of the year including Sea of Thieves, Cuphead, Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2, etc.

Official Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Thread

I'm kind of biased, I guess. The Xbox One gets played daily in my home. It's still my favorite 8th gen console, though I know I'm in the minority. I never feel like there's a lack of new games to play or a reason to fire it up. The console feels very alive and always "fresh" to me. I love it.

Of course, I love my PS4. Uncharted 4 is blowing me away right now. The only reason I'm logged into Vgchartz at 1:09am was to comment on how great of a time I'm having. Instead, i get sidetracked by a "concerned gamer" whose intent is to tell me how bad things are. As an Xbox lover, I have to say things are just fine in my opinion.

*Edit* well, damn. The thread I came to comment on its closed. I wanted to say that Uncharted 4 does a fantastic job of giving me hints, only when I need them. If doesn't hold my hand too much at all. Muuuuch better than Uncharted 2 & 3! Oh well. Back to more Uncharted 4!

They had a great year last year, this year doesn't look as good but there doesn't appear to be anything to complain about, great mix of old and new games. Sony conversely had a shitty 2015 for games but looks to have a great lineup this year.
