As much as I wish for COD to do shit, I doubt it.



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I think a very similar argument was made when Destiny first came out, but COD still outsold it.

The funny thing is, even if any of these games outsells COD (Overwatch/Destiny), Activision will be laughing to the bank regardless.

Every year for the last 4 years people have been saying 'this is the one, this is the CoD that starts the decline' and then it doesn't happen.

I have no doubt it will eventually happen, but for right now the series is super popular. I don't see Overwatch outselling CoD

It may come close with the polar opposite receptions they're getting among core gamers, but I'd say the odds are still against it. Much as the internet is tired of it COD remains the sales juggernaut of the industry year to year. Afaik each game still easily sells in the tens of millions cumulatively while the OW beta couldn't quite reach eight figures. If a free beta across three platforms couldn't do that I kinda doubt it will with a retail price tag attached.

For overwatch its the most played beta this gen beating all other betas like destiny, bo3, battlefront, the division, etc
