The Asahi Shimbun keeps on giving with their interview to Kimishima. It seems now Nintendo is interested in doing films. Acording to the publication "President Tatsumi Kimishima said that the company is negotiating with a number of movie production companies around the world in search of a partner for full-fledged filmmaking."

Many people probably saw this comming since the Pikmin shorts, or even earlier. But I guess now we know it's really happening. I personally want to see them working together with Disney, if they ever consider a foreign partner.

If they get the right partnerships - I'm all for it. Everything they've done recently in this area has been really good. I really enjoyed the recent Star Fox short.

I'd like for them to stick with anime and animated movies in general for now - even for Zelda.

Metroid could be great as a live-action movie - but that franchise is lacking good creative direction thesedays methinks.

Would be awesome if done right! The SSB intros were amazing!

On top of my mind I can only think of Punch-Out!!, Zelda and Metroid as franchises that could get a movie. It's kinda hard when most of your IPs are cartoony, that's why the Pikmin shorts turned out so well, while the Pikmins are kinda cartoony the environment is extremely realistic...

Why not go back to make licensed animes and animation? With so many cartoony IPs, you'd be able to choose from a very diverse pool of options.

Last I heard it was entirely confirmed that they're prepping a film to release in a couple years. It's moved well past "wants" if that's the case.
