Forums - Sony Discussion - Uncharted 4 - Aldro's Review

Great review and I agree with all of your points. So to rate all of ND games from PS3 up until now it would be: TLOU>U4>U2>U3>U1

The epilogue and chapter 4 in U4 were perfect.

I enjoyed the game immensely, but the biggest problem I had with it is that it definitely felt like Naughty Dog wanted to make The Last of Us 2, but were confined by it being Uncharted. As such, the game felt like it had a bit of an identity crisis. There were so many times throughout the game that I thought "wow, this level design is going to be amazing in The Last of Us 2."

Having played through the game, even though it was the longest length-wise, I was left wanting more. This is because the shootouts were genuinely lots fun (a first for the series, to be honest) and they were much more spaced out than in previous Uncharteds. Whereas in each previous Uncharted, I felt like the games overstayed their welcome in the third act with their tedious battles and bullet sponge enemies, this was not at all present in Uncharted 4. That said, TLOU was the perfect length and it never overstayed its welcome.

Honestly, even though I know people will criticize it. I genuinely enjoyed the Rafe battle. I only wish they made parry left and parry right L1 and R1 respectively instead of triangle and circle. I accidentally pressed square instead of triangle so many times.

So, in total, U4 was a very, very, very good game, but it was nowhere close to as good as The Last of Us.

Dude, spoilers man.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Am I the only one that thinks that the game was a bit too slow and lacked those amazing and ridiculously over the top action set pieces the last 2 games had? I'm also a huge Uncharted fan, and think the game masterfully wraps up the series, I just missed a scenes on par with U2 train and U3 ship.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

This. No ridiculous over the top action set pieces is dissapointing.

Also... Uncharted games usually end with the last chapters being fucking awesome! Uncharted 4 ends with 2 underwhelming chapters. Also the final fight sucks (specially on higher difficulties).

I qualify a 10 as a masterpiece, not as flawless because I believe giving a 10 only for flawless games mean that the metric would infact never be used. I also dont do 9.5's or such. A 9 to me is incredible. This game is more to me.

The gameplay is more than incredible? What does this do that many other games fail to do?

On paper, very few things. But being the only game to do something no one else does is not something that matters to me. What it does do, it does better than all games before it in my opinion. As a result, its a new bar for the genre for me. Theres a genuine sense of adrenaline and rush as you play it. Im hooked badly on the MP right now and heres a clip of last night where the gameplay truly shined and even an hour after I had stopped, I was still feeling the rush of it all. Shit really played like an E3 showcase hahaha. =>

Ultimately you yourself know if that is to your liking or not.

I can't trust your review after you told me Uncharted 3 was awesome, Aldro!

It's a masterpiece, your loss :( <3

TLOU > UC4 > UC3 > UC2 > UC1 for me

ALSO i ADORED the boss fight on UC4. I have been asking for that exact kind of fight since I finished UC1, no joke. I was fucking crying tears of joy that we finally got to do it and it was everything I expected and then some hahaha.

Fair enough. The gameplay is not bad in any sense of the word, I just feel it gets a bit tedious after a while. I know I sound like a hater, but I did really enjoy the game

Thats cool :D Personally I didnt enjoy myself as much on Normal but Light difficulty man <3 <3 It allowed for that clip XD

Currently addicted to sniping in MP, not an expert by any means but man it feels great to just sit back and pluck people and occasionally get some real nice moments haha, heres a 2 min video of a match like 20 mins ago =>

That fucking sniper sound and reload animation, sogooood.

I might even prefer the MP to TLOU... Not sure yet. But for those that played with me know that I adored TLOUs MP as my favourite MP on consoles. But shit they are so different. TLOU is so tense and mentally draining. UC while still tactical, is just still so much of a fun time without draining you. The pacing of combat really carries over properly from SP in both games.

I dont do much MP, but its good to hear its fun. ND really seem to actually take it seriously. Too often the MP aspect of a very SP heavy game is just tacked on.

Yep MP is pretty fun
