Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Emily Rogers: NX not gonna use X86 architecture, raw power close to XBO

Isn't this kind of like the wiiU in a way... Just instead of being more powerful than the ps3/xb1... Its worse/samey...

If its a handheld, that would be impressive... But if its a console... Then she better be right about Nintendo's first party cause ps4/x1 are gonna have tons of games by then

Good for Nintendo. Launching a console at 400$ to compete with PS4K/Neo just wouldn't have been a good move at all.

Then why not just keep with the wii u, pointless relasing a new console.

There is a tons of differences between a wii u and a Xbox one . Those are checkboxes Nintendo needs to tick so that it can be in the race. It s not just about power

-X86 instead of power pc (power pc is over and done)

-8GB of RAM vs 2GB on WiiU

-at least 500GB of HDD

-better OS and online service with more functionalities

These are the requirements. Now, problem is things have changed since 2013, the NEO and one.5 could change a lot of things

Is Emily Rogers confirmed to really be a girl? I've never heard about a woman that is interested in computer hardware.

Well, it's always a good idea to not assume that a girl isn't interested in something just because of her gender. I don't know why you would question her sex just because she likes computers.

For me this would really indicate that the NX will be more of a beefed up portable with home console functionality. Then again, what do I know?

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

If it is not x86 and it is a modern architecture, then the only thing I can think of is ARM. She better be right about her sources, because otherwise all of this can come crashing down ruining her reputation. Sorry, I am always skeptical about "second-hand" information. Remember that telephone game we all used to play in school?

Hmm, i have mixed feelings about this.
On one hand this console could be relatively cheap with 3rd party support and Nintendo games, and it would sell a lot of units. Also, if Nintendo is really gonna have the upgradable hardware it makes sense for it not to be super powerful.
On the other hand, it really sucks that it won't be as powerful and many companies could end up abandoning it for the lack of power and that the PS4 Neo/xb1.5 will out perform the console.

Because it is a failed product and nothing is going to change that, they need a fresh start.

Isn't this kinda like the failed strategy all over again though? Who's going to be excited for a system that might not even be as powerful as an XBox One, several years too late to the market?

There has to be some unreal gimmick here or it has to be portable.

A portable that can hook up to a TV is definitely a new concept

Unless they have a good gimmick they are done. Not matching PS4 specs in 2017 is inexcusable.
