Forums - Movies & TV - Fantastic Four Producer Wants Second Chance With Same Cast

Animegaming, you beat me too it. Michael B. Jordan decided to leave that sinking ship.

Around the Network

Michael B. Jordan is going to be a big star, I don't see him touching this sinking ship of a franchise with a 10 foot pole.

This movie was bad, not just bad good bad but bad. Thing had no pants on. At ALL!

Hmm, pie.

^ this.

Why do they always do this? think they can "rewrite" a better story than the orginal?

It almost always turns out worse (and it p****s off fans of the books).

You want to base a movie off a book? do it right and stick to the story of the books.

Actually the movie tried to replicate the Ultimate version of them, it was just awfully done and none of the characters felt like their counterparts. The older FF films were more true to the comics than you can imagne in comparison.

Hmm, pie.

What about a differnet direction..

Like they make the Fantastic Four an ACTUAL superhero family.. I.E. They don't do the original story and just jump to Franklin and Valeria being part of the team. It would set it apart from most other superhero fare, give something new to look forward to from those who are lapsed from the reboots and bad sequels, and help offer a child's perspective, at least in the case of Franklin, on the events and make it easier to recommend to children.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I think hes right. The casting was fine, the direction was fine, its just the script was awful. I found myself liking the movie until i realized it was almost over and absolutely nothing had happened.

How much of the Fantastic Four have you read?

To be fair, not much. I used to have these Marvel special collection which every comic would bring you about four issues together (sometimes they weren't cronollogically correct, but rather the most important issues of the entire collection), and I had like two or three about the Fantastic Four. Also, some Daredevil comics on which they were heavily featured, and an comic which had an alternative universe on which Magneto ruled the place and had Doom under his command, which at the same time had a grotesque version of the Fantastic Four at his will.

That probably explains it.

If you're actually interested in the Fantastic Four or comics in general, check out John Hickman's work on the series.

I could give him a try. I just hope he's not some kind of Frank Miller, going around destroying superheroes like Miller did with Daredevil.

My biggest gripe with the movie was the cast. At least the actors from the first two had their characters down.

And one other thing is the presence of a double standard: So let's say we have a character in the comics and a few movies. He's an established fan favorite for his super cool power and attitude. He's also black, but for a new movie, he's white, even though his twin sister is black. If you did this, there would be fan rioting. So why the hell is it okay to do the reverse to Johnny Storm? I'm getting a bit annoyed with the "black-washing" of established characters, but it irks me even more when it makes no goddamn sense because they have a whiter than white twin sister. They could have made Ben or Reeds black, and it would work. Hell, they could have ALSO made Susan black and get away with it. Instead, it feels like they couldn't decide what they wanted more: white Susan or black Johnny.
