Forums - Movies & TV - Fantastic Four Producer Wants Second Chance With Same Cast

The first part was actually pretty ok and you could see where the director was going for with them being scared of their new powers.. How Ben called to Reed.. After Reeds escape you could see the studio interference with the one year time skip and bland action that followed

I think the Fantastic Four brand is damaged in the eyes of most general movie goers. Only way I see them "fixing" it is to recast a few years from now and ease them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Why can't he just give up ? also I think there will never ever be again a Fanastic 4 Movie featuring a black character, I know it's not his fault, but people will remember it for this thing imho :v

Honestly you shouldnt fu** with the characters in comic books too much.

Casting a black guy, just because hes black, when the character hes supposed to be isnt, isnt a good move.

Imagine a new super mario movie,.... staring a chinese mario? or a black one?

People would go "thats not mario".

Comic book fans are the same.

Story being differnt? thats iffy stuff... messing with beloved characters? thats a no no.

Agreed.  They're messing with the whole formula that the fans enjoyed it for.  Is it really that hard to stick with what's already there? lol

Why are they so stupid and think fans will enjoy what they've literally ripped apart and changed everything about it.

.....

I find Hollywood/America/new comic books try to play nice with the whole 'politically friendly' card sometimes but is actually stupid and limited to 3 options (from what i've seen):
- changing an important white character to a black actor (only black and no other nationality)
- changing any non-white character to a white actor
- changing the sex of character from male to female (they may keep the same nationality as originally was)

One thing I know we'll never see is a muslim Captian America lol xD

I haven't seen the movie and I'm not a fan of the characters, but this guy should not get a second chance. You can make a few mistakes and learn from them, but if you fail that spectacularly then it's obvious you were never the person for the job.

Never watched it, but heard bad things from basically All Fantasic Four movies.. there must be a reason why..

Considering how good was the director's previous movie, Chronicle, I'm not sure this can be saved in any way or form. Especially when the words come from the producer, not the actual director.

In my opinion, The Fantastic Four aren't simply likeable enough to have a decent movie on their own. They're probably among Marvel's most boring superheroes, and it's reflected upon their comics, movies and merchandising, which simply pales in comparison to other different heroes. This being said, Fantastic Four was terrible not because of the cast or the fact that there's a black person or that the white one is the adopted sister, no; the movie's greatest problem was its terrible pace, lack of respect for the source material (like The Thing killing people, wtf?) and that it tooks ages to create the set-up for a simple fight and it ends before it can even begin.

I'd certainly hope that not another movie in the same vein is created.

How much of the Fantastic Four have you read?

Because comic book movies were generally terrible before recent times.

The first FF movie was a stringshoe budget thing made to keep the license for the FF.

The second one came in the post Spider-man boom where companies were trying to capitalize on what they had without realizing why X-men and Spider-man were successful.  We're talking about the time of Daredevil, Catwoman, Hulk Dogs, and so on.

And the third one had the Dark Knight envy that Superman Returns and Amazing Spider-man dealt with.  Trying to make a dark franchise out of a franchise that isn't dark.

If you think the problem is with the source material... then you're wrong.  Because the movies only shares a passing resemblance to the actual comics.  When Galactus is a cloud, Dr. Doom is a generic 90's businessman, and Mr. Fantastic is on the run from the military, you're not really making a Fantastic Four movie.

I need to express that Galatus was NEVER a cloud.  The only reason he was shown as if he were a cloud at the end of the Rise of the Silver Surfer was because Tim Story wanted the next director to have the creative freedom to render a full fledged tangible Galactus anyway he deemed.  Behind the scenes renditions supported that Story originally wanted to show Galactus from head to toe as seen in the comics, but opted to have the chracter shrouded behind a cloud for the next director.  Too bad most viewers reacted very narrowly and negatively at what they THOUGHT was Galactus, thus hurting the chance of a third movie that would have shown Galactus as they had hoped.

Why is everyone so stuck on race and color?
Has anyone considered that even with a white character, the movie still would have sucked because it was bad?

i would say its pretty that one the cast members has other plans.......
