Can't say if its a good or bad thing yet, but Nintendo inherently put more pressure on themselves by entering a "save the best for last" type situation. After seeing what the 4Neo and XB 1.0 are, Nintendo can't afford a let down, NX pretty much has to blow everyone away..

The product just has to be good, when they unveil it. If it's another Wii U type of lukewarm-ish concept, then it doesn't matter if they show before E3, at E3, after E3 ... it's not people are going to somehow buy one because it was unveiled before the PS4 Neo or something, NX has to deal with those no matter what.

as of right now the only people even remotely interested in it are Ninty fans on forums. Not sure how Ninty is going to get the people who didnt buy the Wii U to come back, IMHO there whole secrecy stragety is corny and needs to change.

Ya, i dont expect your average Joe to be excited for two letters, obviously the only people interested in a device that hasnt been shown yet are internet nerds.

How much hype is there for PS4 Neo currently? Not much outside of nerds on gaming forums, do you know why? Because its a yet to be revealed device which average people have no clue even exists.

Edit: Also is Nintendo really being that secretive? NX is releasing next March, that is 10 months away. Neither PS4 nor Xbox One had been revealed at this point. PS4 was revealed 9 months from launch and Xbox One 6 months from launch. A reveal between July & September would be right in line with those two products.

Skipping E3 is a smart move. They will end up stealing the shine from Neo and Nextbox when they have their own solo reveal later this year. If they revealed at E3 they'd be in direct competition with them. It would have been a mess. But with this its just them being able to show everything its capable of without Sony or MS trying to interfere.

So instead, they will wait a month or two, reveal it and then be crushed by the onslaught of advertisemants of the Nextbox and PS4 Neo and VR for holiday season 2016.

Smart move?.....

Yup. Sony and MS will have already revealed their own system upgrades at E3. They won't have anything to distract from Nintendo's full console reveal. Nintendo just needs to reveal sometime after E3 and before the holiday marketing blitz happens for Neo and Nextbox. Its a clean window that should keep Nintendo in gamers mindset. Especially since after the reveal Nintendo can start talking about games and 3rd party devs can start talking about their upcoming NX launch games.

Can't really say.

I see people saying revealing at their own event is better than showing off at E3 like Sony/Microsoft did, but what Nintendo is doing is nothing like what Sony/Microsoft did.  Sony/Microsoft had seperate events BEFORE E3 and then showcased their systems at E3, but NIntendo is skipping E3 and only having their own event.  Nintendo could have had their own event and had all eyes on them like everyone is saying is the benefit of having their own event BEFORE E3 and had more exposure at E3.  If people want to use the excuse that the NX wasn't ready to be shown before E3 then that's on Nintendo's incompetence to plan ahead.

My God, finally one who gets it! I think Sony and Microsoft had Gamescom too, not comparable at all with Nintendo's situation.

AMD's new custom win begins production in the second half of the year, no amount of planning from Nintendo can overcome that unless they'd picked hardware readily available at which point the's a chance the hardware would be weaker then what people would like. You're essentially asking them to do unveiling of hardware that's not even complete as well as not in production.

I'm guessing you never watched the PS4 reveal event.
