Simple question. I've never played an Uncharted game before but am interested in the franchise. Can I enjoy Uncharted 4 while not knowing anything about the other games at all?

Honestly, not really, I mean you might enjoy it more. Maybe Uncharted 3 so you know obvious character motivations.

Each uncharted have their own treasure hunting including U4 but in this one, it tends to retell in small details previous drake's adventure as a way to tell all the things drake has done before settling down but they arent related to the current story. So IMO, yes but I dont think you gonna get the same satisfaction as someone who played the previous 3. I havent finished it yet so my opinion might change.

You can enjoy Uncharted 4 without U1-3. Three friends of mine - they are fascinated about Uncharted 4 and have never played a uncharted-game.

And if you love Uncharted 4, you can buy the Nathan Drake-Collection with Uncharted 1-3 later :)

Considering they remastered all of them and put them onto one disc I would assume so. I'm definitely playing 1-3 before 4.

It would still be great if you haven't played the others, but I would recommend playing them first anyways. They're great games and 4 will be all the better if you've played the others.

You could definitely still play Uncharted 4 without playing the first three, but I personally wouldn't recommend it. There are a lot of Easter eggs from the the previous games and a lot of the interaction and moments will mean much more if you have played the first three games.

Playing Uncharted 3 will make you appreciate how much of an improvement Uncharted 4 is.

I've only played the first one and the beginning of the second but it's heavily story driven so I would recommend playing 1-3 before playing 4. Especially since you can get the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection (remastered 1-3 Uncharted games for the PS4) for fairly cheap.

No, Golden Abyss is absolutely essential though.
