Now that the NX cat is officially out of the bag, Wii U's sales actually look pretty good considering it is literally a dead console walking now.

I guess the big question now for the pundits is whether PS4 will get past Wii U LTD before or after Wii U becomes a last gen console.

There is pent up demand because of the severe shortages.  If they had unlimited Wii U's next week it would sell a lot more before dropping down again.  Also this was golden week.  Next week Wii U sales will likely go down again.  

 

The YOY comparisons will get ugly soon.  Splatoon boost is coming soon and this year it has nothing.

How low is low enough to stop shipping consoles to japan? I mean at some point the costs of storage,transportation and even salaries won't be recovered by how low the numbers are.

The Console sold 65-66 Thousands units to date on Japan, i think that Xbox 360 did 60-80 Thousands on Launch, maybe they shipped 100-150K units  to Japan for the launch of Xbox One, so there would be no cost in selling it nowdays, because they already had the stock since day 1.

@Famitsu YES!!! They give another win to the ps4. So it's 1 tracker each atm!  

 

YTD PS4 up by more than 100k and Vita up by about 50k. Good year for PlayStation so far.  And the best is yet to come. 

 

Thats quite and awesome idea! People who want to buy the Wii U for Splatoon will probably need to buy the SMM bundle! = Increase both sales!

I think MS needs to be in Japan formally in order to get the few exclusive JRPGs that are coming to it. While MS will be relying on markets outside of Japan for making their JRPGs worthwhile investments for both MS and the developer, it would be extremely hard to secure any JRPG deals without Xbox having a presence in Japan. The benefit for Western Xbox gamers who like JRPGs is that there is no hope of such games doing well enough in Japan alone, which means release in the West will be at the same time, and there will be no waiting for the dev or publisher to decide whether/when to localise.

I didn't know Bale was on the cover for pes this year. Awful sales over there though, I remember that franchise used to do a lot better

Of course they will bundle it.  SMM wouldn't be selling a lot now without it so they were always going to choose that over splatoon.  Why would they bundle splatoon when it's actually capable of its high sales without any help.  

 

Question for anyone.  Is ps4 bundle with any game in Japan?  I know knack was in the past and bloodborne got a digital code for a period of time too but is it generally just sold on its own?

I Don't think they are planing to make JRPG exclusives those kind of games don't sell on Xbox, i think that they don't have any cost selling the console for Japan, the console sell 500-700 units per Month and is dropping sales, if they have 30 Thousands of units on Stock this would be enought for several years.
