Forums - Sony Discussion - I feel like Uncharted 4 is the perfect game for people that alreadly think Uncharted is perfect.

9 chapters in & I thoroughly disagree about the gameplay. TPS, combat, stealth, are the best in the series. Gunplay is far from average, platforming is a joy as usual. Nothing wrong with linearity either. The story is gripping, pacing is perfect.

I agree stealth is the best its ever been in this series, but that's because it was crap before. Now its... better. Gunplay is nothing special, feels clunky. Although AI has improved, doesn't just feel like a gallery shooter.

The platforming isn't particularly well paced in my opinion, sometimes I find myself just tapping the jump button and zoning out hoping to move forward. Some of the action scenes I've thus far have been pretty amazing, but sometimes they just go on too long. Hey, I guess it just depends on what you're looking for in a game.

I'm not gonna argue about story, that's what ND does best.

Overall this game is something special and I won't complain if/when it gets game of the year. But I'm half way in and I'm kinda bored, I blame pacing.

Explain what's clunky about the gunplay.

Thats thé opposite, im not à fan of Uncharted but this game is not as simple as à Uncharted ( not in term of difficulty ) , it goes far beyond that, thé ambition everywhere in this game is insane, i hadnt feel that since TLOU.
After playing chapter 14, i can safely say that thé gameplay mixed with one of thé best level design ever made in à TPS makes thé gameplay of Uncharted 4 addictive, excellent  in thé top of thé best TPS , its awfully good, thé way they achieve to have this incredible art and this amazing level design at thé same time ,  i cant wait to see what chapter 15 has for me.

I don't understand why ppl play the 4th game in a series expecting it to be something other than what we all know it is.

Well... sometimes games like Resident Evil 4, Halo: Reach, Grand Theft Auto 4, Call of Duty 4, Tomb Raider, MGS Peacewalker, MGS:TPP and other games changed up gameplay pretty significantly, some more than others.

I kinda hoped Uncharted was gonna do some of that based on some of the footage they released. But for the most part... its Uncharted by the numbers.

Hum the only games in your list with more significant changes that Uncharted 4 are Résident Evil 4, COD 4 and MGS ( which is not à good thing, most people are disappointed for this one, thé proof that wanting to change at all cosr isnt a good thing ), Halo Reach, GTA 4 hadnt big change, thzy just had improvements in the gameplay and new features.

It's silly to think a game has to be totally différent to deserve 10/10 scores, thats what new IP are for, à game like Dark Souls 3 with almost no change still deserves excellent scores.

A couple of reviews stated it had a slow start, so I'm going to be a little patient with it.

I'm in chapter 6, and from a gameplay perspective, I'm not impressed. It's very scripted and linear compared to the previous games, and gameplay is something we've seen before. But I'm guessing or hoping it'll open up more in the next following chapters. The story so far is nice, but overall, I'm not amazed atm.

I am in chapter 10 which IMO is the best chapter from the first 10 chapters.  Hope the rest of the chapters are equal or better than 10.

I though the beginning was a little along than I would have liked... I usuylove the nd games beginnings, but this one seemed too much and did not have the impact of uc2, or TLoU (or even u3)... However, the game pick up some serious pace afterward and we fall into "uncharted" again, which is explore abit, fight, exchange some vanter, etc.it réels a bit faster than encore, ans thé rope + stealth add some really nice depth to the combat...

How much further are you in? I hear the middle chapters are far more open with multiple paths to get to objectives/areas you can completely skip if you miss them.

Chapter 12, taken a break these past two days cause I'm a little bored with it. I hear the game gets better as it goes though.

There is some more open areas, but nothing I feel is really worth exploring for. So going off the path isn't satisfying as other open games. Its not like I'm gonna hunt or find useful loot.

Yeah, chapter 10 was pretty awesome. I was hoping more of the game would be something like this.

Chapter 11 is pretty strong as well aside from some not so interesting puzzles. I heard the game gets better and it has been.

GTAIV went above and beyond of what I was expecting. I mean the physics, graphics, gunplay, raised the bar in the genre. However, I admit the campaign sucked but that DLC is fantastic.

Halo: Reach added special abilities and made signficant changes to multiplayer. It was a bigger change in the game mechanics than Uncharted 4. Halo 5 also made some pretty signficant changes, feels fantastic because of it.

MGSV has its issues, but its the best game in the series in regard to gameplay.

Aside from not being very different, my biggest gripe with UC4 is big chunk of the campaign not being great. Sorry I've gotten a little bored of ND's lack of innovation in Uncharted. Its a fun game, multiplayer is good as well, but this certainly ain't a 10.

So you confirméd what i said, it becomes purely subjective no, GTA 4 is" just "à big technological and gameplay improvement, that sounds totally like Uncharted 4

I dont feel Halo change were that bigger, especially in Halo 5. Nothing enough big to be called innovation.

This isnt a 10 for you, but it is for a lot of people, thats it.

You are probably right. Gamers are like very old people, we don't like change.
