Forums - Sony Discussion - I feel like Uncharted 4 is the perfect game for people that alreadly think Uncharted is perfect.

I don't want it to be a clone of TR, but I think we were mislead about scale of Uncharted 4.

I thought this was going to be a more open game and some areas are, but for the most part it feels like the same ol' Uncharted, very linear but with a few new tricks.

I want to clarify I do like the game but I always play Uncharted games wanting something more and games like AC and TR do that. Uncharted beats them in charm though, but AC makes intersting lead characters sometimes.

So it's not more open? A lot of people here talked it up to be. That blows. I understand ND wants to craft a certain type of experience, and they are good at crafting their kind of experience. But as others in the thread have said, their experience typically leaves a lot to be desired in the gameplay department imho, both with Uncharted and Last of Us. Probably why I consider the first Uncharted to be the best one, there was more exploring, less emphasis on set pieces and cinematics. Also why I loved the TR reboot.

Main reason why I didn't buy U4 and probably won't until I find it dirt cheap somewhere. I got the same feeling last gen with Gears of War, too. I played 3 for mere minutes before being bored out of my mind and never touched it again. Sometimes a developers flavor just becomes stale. I'd hoped ND had found some ways to inject meaningful new elements but from what I have read, they have not.

Which is why I wouldn't mind if the franchise carried on under someone elses care. That's a great way to inject new life. Some people hate that idea, but it's worked fine in the past.

Uncharted more open? No thanks.

Just to touch on the original Uncharted, it definitely was the worst one 'gameplay' wise. No verticality in environments, no stealth, terrible H2H combat, 'clunky' aim reticle, Uncharted 2 - 4 has refined on all these elements.

9 chapters in & I thoroughly disagree about the gameplay. TPS, combat, stealth, are the best in the series. Gunplay is far from average, platforming is a joy as usual. Nothing wrong with linearity either. The story is gripping, pacing is perfect.

I agree stealth is the best its ever been in this series, but that's because it was crap before. Now its... better. Gunplay is nothing special, feels clunky. Although AI has improved, doesn't just feel like a gallery shooter.

The platforming isn't particularly well paced in my opinion, sometimes I find myself just tapping the jump button and zoning out hoping to move forward. Some of the action scenes I've thus far have been pretty amazing, but sometimes they just go on too long. Hey, I guess it just depends on what you're looking for in a game.

I'm not gonna argue about story, that's what ND does best.

Overall this game is something special and I won't complain if/when it gets game of the year. But I'm half way in and I'm kinda bored, I blame pacing.

Seeing I really liked the previous 3 Uncharted then I'm in for a blast, thanks puggsly.

You didn't enjoy Golden Abyss?

Its like the other games with annoying puzzles.

Haven't played it yet. Did you enjoyed it besides the puzzles? I like puzzles

But the great part is that we fully now that Pug is very far from being a Sony or ND enthusiast, so if in his honest opinion the game is good and very accomplished and similar to the good points of other Uncharted I'll carry a lot of weight on his praise, a lot more than I would on the opinion of someone that is always favorable to the game/company,

I agree with cutscenes going too long even though I have enjoyed it so far. Still, you get to the point when you want it to stop. I am not a fan of that in any game.

i loved tomb raider.
and people said uncharted and tomb raider are copies of each other, so i was excited by uncharted.

But my reason why i like tomb raider was the exploration, where the player can go back to places where him/her visited and explore new places with the items/upgrades him/her got later.
Thats why i kinda miss something on uncharted.

Its fine, great compared to other handheld shooters. Solid story and the gameplay is true to the series.

I dont recall a lot of variety in level design though, basically just jungle and tombs.

The puzzles were more like rubbing the screen, aiming the camera at the light, etc. Almost feels like they were forced to use Vita features.

If I'm not a Sony enthusiast I dont know why I give them so much money.

I enjoy Sony games, but sometimes I'm confused by the amount of praise some of their games get.

I was listening to Giant Bombcast and the guy who gave it a perfect score for that site admitted the first 8 or 9 chapters were slow and numerous others playing it felt gameplay mechanics are kinda just average. I personally wouldnt give a game a perfect score bearing that in mind. From what I've played thus far it gets really good atound chapter 10, thats nearly half way in.

This thread isnt really about Sony or ND, I'm confused why this is treated like the perfect game by many critics. I'm a big fan of FUN GAMEPLAY and thats where I feel this game misses. In story telling and cool action scenes, well the game is amazing there.

There are a lot of things I appreciate about this game but I dont recall any other title in this series being story and cutscene driven.

This game doesent raise the bar in gameplay and thats what I hoped ND was aiming for.

They played it safe on the gameplay side which could be a good or bad thing depending of what you are looking for in a uncharted game.  By being the "the last uncharted", I guess they didnt want to take risk.
