Forums - Sales Discussion - A funny thing happened with the UK Chart for 23 April 2016

It seems that with VGC seeming to update hardware by a month at a time the analysis of weekly sales has dropped to almost zero.

I noticed this oddity for the most recent hardware week for the UK, being 23 April.

Notice how PS4 drops by a larger % than Xb one, yet PS4 has a number 1 new release exclusive game and Xb one has no new release except for some minor multiplats that do better on PS4. Xb one software dropped 20% whereas PS4 software dropped only 3%. Seems pretty odd to me.

Were there Xb one sales on?

Maybe because half of the UK owns a PS4...?

Aren't there a lot of discounts on XBone over there, and that is why games like Zoo Tycoon are still on the list?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

What's funny about it? It's the UK and Xbox has always been strong there.

Dark Souls 3 launched the week before, and would have boosted the PS4 much more than it would've boosted the XBO.

Remember Sony announced 40 Millions units shipped as of 31 of March ?, VG Charts needed to adjust the little overtracking that they were making with the PS4, so maybe they took away PS4 Numbers from recent  weeks instead of re-make the numbers of previous weeks.

It's almost as if they're making it up.........................

But real talk. A game like Ratchet & Clank isn't going to be driving many new PS4 sales.

Its only by 800 units.

No, but it should reduce the amount of drop from the previous week. Sales have basically been on a downward path sinve The Division launched. QB had a more steadying effect on the Xb one decline than R&C had on PS4, and R&C is a well liked franchise, with a very good critical reception, and with higher launch numbers than QB. Dark Souls actually benefitted Xb one more because there was a 0% change for Xb one and a -9% for PS4.

Perhaps this PS4 Neo talk is reducing PS4 sales a bit.
