Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Windows 10 Free Upgrade Offer to End Soon

I won't upgrade. I tried it on my old laptop, it ran worse and started crashing randomly, revert to windows 7 seemed to work but problems persisted, 2 reset to factory settings later (first failed to re-patch windows 7) it is sorta stable again.

From what I saw of it, I don't see any point in upgrading. I'll need a new laptop first to take advantage of DX12 and will get stuck with win 10 eventually :/

Good, maybe they'll finally stop trying to shove it down my throat by force. My two main gripes with Windows 10 are forced updates and spying like it's a mobile platform, but having used Windows 10 a bit, there's other issues too. Mainly, I hate the UI because it's fugly on PC and settings are all over the place.

Got Windows 10, must say I miss Windows 8.1. Windows 10 is unstable, suffers slowdowns and every uodate seems to make it worse.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Already got it on my PC, works really well.

Probably won't get in on my laptop though, to avoid performance issues.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I very much regret upgrading. It's been one problem after another with almost no gain. I probably won't upgrade on my new PC and stick with W7.

As for that video, it's kind of funny how most of the "reasons" break down into Cortana (which I've disabled), a bunch of stuff that does not apply to desktops, and the fact that they're trying to force people to switch with threats of ending support for everything else.

The end of support will be the main argument. I wished they went further on the Windows 7 road, but alas.

Finally. Does that mean that the W10 pop up will stop appearing on my PC?

You can find and uninstall that update (in windows 7 at least). I doubt they will stop displaying it mind you. I think the update is 'KB3035583' (according to the internet), so find that in your updates and uninstall it.

I personally haven't updated win 7 in a while as the last one crash my PC, probably show but also no intention of getting windows 10, I'll get it when I upgrade my laptop in a few years.

Yea, I had to delete KB3035583 update because it was annoying me too much.  Also, it would crash half the time on boot up so I was wondering why I would I want to upgrade to the new OS if they can't even make the update program not crash constantly.  Deleting that update has actually given me some peace of mind.  It also made me change the Windows Update process to my full control because I don't want anymore bs patches that annoy me.
