I'd say there were times in the Wii era which were... worse for me. But that's personal, not an objective analysis of software output.

Yes. Its fine to only play on one console if youre more of a casual gamer or a single console offer everything you want in your games. I have a PS4 and a WiiU. I would be miserable without one of the two. Right now I think XB1 is pretty much a lesser PS4, but I will get one when its cheaper.

To answer the OP, I'm not sure.

2016 has or will have Mario & Luigi, LEGO, Oddworld, Project X Zone, Fire Emblem, The Legend of Zelda, Pokken, Hyrule Warriors, Bravely, Star Fox (x2), Kirby, Mighty No. 9, Mario & Sonic, Tokyo Mirage, Zero Time Dilemma, Federation Force, Yooka-Laylee (?), Azure Striker Gunvolt, Dragon Quest VII and VIII, Monster Hunter, Paper Mario, and Pokemon. That's not a totally terrible lineup. Now if you only play on WiiU it's slim pickings in 2016.

It's among the weakest years for a Nintendo home console in recent memory, for sure.

We have a new console coming with a Zelda launch title. Seems like a pretty damn good time to me.

Console wise, maybe.I heard that gamecube had a horrible last year too though.Software-wise, inclusing 3DS no.3DS got and will have awesome games this year

 NX is day 1 for me thanks to LoZ, so I'll have a Ninty and Sony console like before. Xbox has never really interested me that much to be honest, but that's just me, two consoles is enough to handle xD
