How do they expect it to be innovative?
Does it not play like an Uncharted game? They expect it not to?

They do this just to take away one point. That's very spiteful of them.

Not every games has to be innovative. And that shouldn't take away from its overall experience.

My question is why do you concern yourself so much with reviewers opinions? Your enjoyment of the game is what matters most.

He just wants to see if he can create a thread that goes beyond 10 pages.  ;)

It happens with all good games.

For an example, I dance and do competition and I do a duet with a girl and we are extremely good (not trying to hoot my horn) but we pretty much always win 1st overall. Anyways, we are so good together on stage that the judges aren't able to really correct a whole lot, so they start nit picking the shit out of you, even with the most stupid things.

But that's what it is. When they can't find any major, or even really any flaws, they nit pick. A lot. Even if whatever they are nit picking is stupid.

Links or it's all a lie!!!

The game is not innovative, that's a fact. It depends on the reviewer, but you can deduct points for that. Not convinced on the other two reasons though XD.

Why does a franchise which has been critically acclaimed have to innovate again?

Does that mean I have to go to the next Star Wars movie expecting that it is going to innovate? Or do I have to go to the next sports game hoping they innovate? Video games are entertainment. Stregthening on what made the last games excellent is plenty enough. So OP is actually quite right on the mark.

It's impossible to please everyone. We are different people with different opinions.

I don't think any of Naughty Dogs are especially awesome and worthy of the praise they get. They are good, enjoyable, but they aren't masterpieces. Just showcases of graphics for their time. That is my opinion, yours can be different. It's okay! It's not like sales will be affected.

I wouldn't classify Splatoon as AAA.  Innovative though, yes.

Really? I disagree, it had massive marketing, appeared in multiple directs recieving multiple DLC's and paches and got the same budle treatment as Mario Kart 8 and Smash 4.

Edit: It even had a deticated 30 mintue direct.

AAA to me speaks more to the production budget/value than it does just to marketing.  It also speaks to the expected reception of the game.  I think games like Splatoon, and this year's release of Ratchet and Clank, are games that would fall out of that category despite being high quality games.
