Holy crap! This is horrible and our provincial government reduced budget and saying it's too big. What a load of bullshit! The military is there, they got a lot of jets, and helicopters, firemen from out of town. It's absolutely horrifying, and I hope the best for them. There is going to be so much loss after this.

My dad took these pictures since he works up there as a safety inspector, keep in mind this is when the fire just started.

That's then, he had to go up North and 80'000 people were evacuated. This is what it's like now-ish...

The whole city will likely be burned and they won't be able to control it tonight. It's being considered catastrophic and it's not slowing down. http://edmontonjournal.com/news/loc...ldfire-pushed-back-even-as-temperatures-climb

Heard it on the news. Jesus Christ. This province has already been through enough crap (I'm from Calgary, so I've seen the recession and whats it done). But for Fort Mcmurray... First the oil crash, and now this!

Praying for them tonight. Hope they can save the city, but this is insane!

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Also wanted to add this, but the NDP really are a shit magnet in this province. They cut down on the wildfire budget saying its unnecessary, and them bam! Bet Edmonton is in panic right now. Horrible choice on their part.

No more trees in the way. Passing that pipeline will be a breeze...

Absolutely horrible. I live in Edmonton, but I'm from Newfoundland, so that automatically means I know many people who live there. Family and friends. The town will never be the same, assuming it survives at all.

Really? These people have suffered enough, and now you must make such jokes because of your opinion!

It wasn't a joke.

So you were serious? Wow. I have no words to describe how heart-breaking (in a bad way) it is to see you say that. Instead of wishing condolenses or simply not saying anything, you just add something that's totally off-topic.

As far as I'm concerned, political opinions and commentary do not belong in this thread.

I wished my condolenses on facebook, where there's an actual chance people who actually live there or near there will witness people's support for them.

As for the rest, I'm calling out the twisted conveniency of this event happening right now. If you follow the news and politics, you should understand what I'm referring to. It is sad. Of course it is. It is heart-breaking to see so many lives affected, and a city that might not even be able to recover at all. The timing of it is still fishy, and that's what I'm pointing out.
