And doed that mean Bayonetta 1 on Wii U have also sold 1 mil? Would Vgchartz count that?

That is good. I think with digital sales it is probably the best selling Bayonetta ever.

Lol don't mean to spoil the party but.....

You should all probably note that US sales on VGChartz are basically 2x higher than they're supposed to be.

Yeah it's nowhere near 1 million.

I am quite relieved it hit 1 million... definitely a great game.

Awesome :)

Is it really an accomplishment to sell 1 million copies after almost 2 years and after a 60% price drop at retail? Games like Rise of the Tomb Raider sold far over a million in less than 3 months on just one console.

I guess for any non-first party game on a Nintendo platform, maybe that is an accomplishment, considering how bad 3rd party usually does, comparatively.

The price was only dropped recently, not like other third party games on the system, play it down all you want, this wont include digital sales, truth is noone on this site knows how much it really sold, lol these same gamers talking all this noise cant take a game doing well on a Nintendo system, thats not made by Nintendo, all you guys said madworld should of been on the other systems, you got anarchy reigns and didn't buy it just like you didn't buy the original Bayonetta and sold worse across two systems, salty much.

Careful! Too much truth in a post can get someone in trouble!  <------- Some mods may perceive this differently.

Bayonetta 3 like NX exlusive is very posible.

so if the information is true (from Zhuge the possibility for that is way, way higher than vgchartzs numbers being correct) the game selling 725000 copies is more reasonable.

my guess is the game will never sell 1 million copies even with digital the only way I see it reaching this if it's remastered for the NX.

It's severely overtracked in the US, like double or nearly that. We got LTD npd numbers at the end of 2015 from the usual source, VGC had twice as much

Since when was Bayonetta's best-in-the-genre gameplay shallow?

There are areas of Bayonetta that are ripe for criticism: its self-indulgent storyline and repeated enemies in the end game. But you can't call the gameplay shallow.

The combat and combo system is remarkably deep. It makes hack 'n' slash games like Devil May Cry and God of War look positively primitive by comparison.

I don't think Bayonetta is deep at all - it's a hack n slash game like DmC. You just hack and slash and block on a timely manner. I'm curious to know what exactly is deep in that gameplay.

If you're going to distill a game's mechanics into a simple summary, then you can make any game sound shallow. StarCraft? You just build units and attack enemy bases. Final Fantasy? You just make friends and fight monsters. It's all entirely without nuance.

There is incredible depth to the combat system in Bayonetta. Each main weapon has a staggering number of attacks and can be paired with a foot weapon to create a mind-boggling number of combinations. On top of that you can pick up dropped weapons to alter the combat further.

Add to that dodge, parry, dodge-cancel, transformation, and mid-air combos and you have one of the most flexible, spectacular, and sophisticated fighting engines ever made.

That doesn't even take into account the enemy types, which are all mechanically different.

Even if it's not true (I think it is considering digital), there is a chance Nintendo secured Bayo 3... afterall they even included her on Smash. :o

They also included Ryu in Smash and SFV was a PS4 console exclusive. There's also Snake in Brawl. I don't think a character being in Smash is indicative of potential franchises on their console.

Snake was originally going to be in Melee on the GC actually but was submitted too late, the GC went on to have a remake of MGS. SFV is exclusive to PS4 as consoles go although Ryu appears in numerous fighting games from Capcom, people would also be more interested in a Nintendo vs Capcom in this regard tbh.
