That's really good news. I really like some of their IPs. I'm also looking forward to Nioh.

While other Japanese publishers seem to be obsessed with spending stupid amounts on their games to make them bigger/flashier and more west oriented and then are surprised when they don't make profit. Just shows that proper management and games that your audience want can still make money. |
Tell me about it. Koei have learnt a lot from the last generation when they tried to do the same after the wild overseas success they had during the PS2 era. Now they are focusing on all the right aspects and know how to position each and every one of their games.

I agree. Koei Tecmo noted during their briefing that they expect conditions in the dedicated games industry to become more favourable in the future and mentioned NX as one of the reasons.

Yes, Japan and Asia do account for a lot and that's reflected in the games that they develop as well. A lot of their online & Mobile + console games are directly targeted towards Japan and Asia so more sales do come from there.
That being said, Koei are obviously keen to target overseas markets with their collaboration titles such as Hyrule Warriors and Attack on Titan and with their new IP Nioh which is aiming to launch simulatenously in all markets.

Well, some of them, like From Software, made the right balance - just look at Dark Souls, especially III...that game technically looks average at best and more like 7th gen game, way below western AAA titles, yet it captivated big audience and it's making profit, all the while looking like it's western title.

Koei Tecmo had a good time on Wii U. Hyrule Warriors was one of their biggest success stories in recent years.

Exactly, but I mean why they have it on their future support ( unless, I have misunderstood ) after the recent news...You know which!

This is a report for their FY2015 which ends March 31st 2016. So it means that they were developing for these platforms within that 12 month period.
It does not necceassrily mean that there will be a new Wii U or 3DS game coming from them.

If it aint broken dont fix it.
Also rather fond of Atelier series, so good on them.
I want to see Team Ninja return to its former glory. Nioh is awesome but needs some tweaks.
Kudos, to them for succeeding without notable games.
