Forums - Movies & TV - Captain America: Civil War – BIG RANT and many plot spoilers inside (you should save your time and money and not see it now)

"The thing is, they probably want to sell the crap that they (the heroes) are just humans like us and flawed like ourselves."

Stopped reading here. No, seriously, I did. You sound like you think you're in a position to decide what everyone else likes.

You're not.

Personally, I didn't like superheros UNTIL they began to act like human beings and, I assure you, my preferences are every bit as valid as yours.

I liked the movie but i liked BvS more xD.

Conclusion: don't trust reviews (Civil War actually has very good reviews and BvS was bashed).

There are always plotholes... pretty much no movie ever made have been without plotholes... sadly most "superhero" movies always have plotholes or else the story would never work.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Don't worry OP, the critics already love it and it's plot is bright, colorful, and easy to follow. Plus, it's Disney, so it's the best no matter what.

Seriously, there's an 80% chance I'm gonna go see it in theaters, so I'll just wait until then and see for myself.
I'm still upset at how BvS was treated when I walked out of my first viewing not confused in any way and excited for what was to come.

Ya.....it was really quite disappointing.

At the same time, it's a hard to tell people not to watch it, because it is in many respects a very fun, entertaining movie. It's not hard to like this movie if you're just looking for some nicely directed hero fights, and a hefty helping of jokes to keep things from getting too serious.

For me though, I wouldn't watch it again, and am rather worried I may have little to look forward to from Marvel in the future.

You really shouldn't have. Just after that sentence, I have written:

"But really, being flawed shouldn’t be a synonym to be dumb as cripes. You can excuse a teenager for being stupid, since many parts of his/her brain are not fully developed, but grown men?"

I mean, Spider-Man has always been the most "human" of all heroes and that is what has always made him so special and my all time favourite. But at the same time he has always been noble and would NEVER used his powers for egocentric reasons, even though he could. That is what I am talking about. Heroes should be models, not jackasses like these guys.

And I really don't think I'm in a position to decide what everyone else likes. It was just my opinion.

Alright, that's fair.  But, look, there is no "heroes should be".  The only prerequisites are having powers and fighting criminals.  After that, they can be every bit as varied as the rest of humanity--and the rest of humanity is filled with jackasses and idiots.  In fact, I'd argue that most of them have massivie egos or they wouldn't do what they do in the first place.  A lot of them are like professional athletes or celebrities, where the power and fame makes them believe they are above average people.  Tony Stark has always been like that, even going back to his creation.  Captain America has often been arrogant and authoritative, especially when he was with the Avengers, with various members getting pissed off at his self-righteousness.  He usually tries to take over and tell people what to do, just like Cyclops with the X-men, because he always thinks that he is right.  That's a well established part of his character.

I'm not saying you're wrong about the movie, as I haven't seen it, but I disagree with the idea that putting on a costume means someone suddenly starts making all the right choices.

I see your point and I thank you for your polite response. But it kinda reafirms my own: I don't mean that when people put uniforms they are automatic better guys. But responsbility is a good thing to teach, and if you see the first episodes of Dare Devil season 2 you will kinda get what I have in mind. Matt is a hero (although sometimes the series make him more vilent than the character I followed in th 80's) and The Punisher is not. The code in Devil's action is more of what it should be: try to help the law get the bad guys, not simply murder them. And this Captain simply gives the law a finger.

I know, right? But the problem here is not a plothole, but the whole script being a complete hole all along.

Another thing I thought was pretty hilarious was how Scarlett Witch comes to be in the fight at all. She had no motivation to get involved at all. After the start, she's completely in her own head, afraid of her own potential for destruction, giving incredibly little resistance to Vision's super friendly buddy house arrest. The two of them are chummy and vibing, and are just generally pretty relaxed. Then Hawkeye shows up, tells her to get off her ass (that's almost literally all he says), proceeds to make a fail attack on Vision who just dodges him a while before deciding to try and incapacitate him in like the most friendly way ever, and at this point Wanda suddenly goes batshit crazy and decides to pound Vision about 100 yards into the ground. Oh and that's after she apparently controls his infinity stone (something I've yet to properly see him do). Everything about this scene is nonsense, and utterly forced so she can get in on the fight.

The whole movie is just so badly written really. I don't even wanna talk about it but its so damn frustrating one can't help but vent
