Well movie doesn't release in Australia for 3 months so i couldnt tell you. The game though is great from rhe first hour I've experienced, i actually put down dark souls 3 to play this.

Done a slightly similar thing, I cancelled my dark souls 3 preorder to get this instead, don't regret it either. I'm on the last planet now and I've enjoyed it, however I don't think it's as good as Tools Of Destruction and its mini follow up sequel Quest for Booty.

I love DS3 but ratchet is a nice break from all the seriousness of DS

Play the game would be my advice. You get to see the locations in more detail and the story is hardly groundbreaking.

Then again, if you're unfamiliar with the story and want a bit of background then you may as well see the movie first. I don't think in this case doing one in front of the other will have a massive effect.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

In retrospect and some thought, the best idea would just be to play the game. I would hate to state a spoiler so soon to the movies life but redundancy is the best thing I can say without spoiling it.

I watched the movie before I finished the game. After I watched the movie, it didn't matter as much to me in the end whether it was spoiled or not because the movie is essentially in the game (minus some minor parts of editing for motivation in the movie).

I really felt like I wasted my money going out to watch the movie in the end.

Id play the game first.

Play The awesome Game first !

Thank you guys for the advices. I ended up playing the game first (I'm probably in the middle of its campain).

So far it's one of the best games I've played in the last couple of years, honestly. Few games give me this special emotion called hapiness. I'm playing it with a smile on my face all the time, and that means a lot as only 2 games this gen did this for me (inFamous: Second Son and Mario Kart 8).

<3

PS: I'll watch the movie this weekend.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

That's basically what angry joe said.  He said that the movie can basically be seen in the game and that the movie was pointless.

Yep. The cutscenes in primary cutscenes in the game are the major and only relevant cut scenes that one would need to see. You experience so much more and the movie is not worth the money. Joe is definitely right here.

Theres one thing that comes to mind when watching the film and that is buyers remorse. I Could not recommend watching it. All of the relevant cut scenes from the movie have already been seen by you while playing the game. You will be in awe of the fact that the best cut scenes from the movie are in the game.

If you have an Xbox One nearby, I would seriously implore you to buy Sunset Overdrive (actually its free on games with gold right now). Its from the makers of Rachet and Clank and its seriously just pure fun and comical genius.

Thanks for the advice, Stage. But I got a free ticket (came with the game), so I won't be wasting anything if it end up being bad.

And I would buy Sunset Overdrive for sure if I had a Xbox One. Actually, that game almost made me buy one... however, I don't have enough time to get the most ouf of 3 systems, so every gen I just choose 2.
