Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the NX outsell the WiiU?

Unless the system is some sort of crazy backwards assed mess, then it basically has to. It has a VERY small number to beat since the Wii U will sell another million tops.

It's close enough now that we seem to know a fair bit of info on it, so if it's all true it should sell fairly well.

Since I feel like guessing.....47 million lifetime

I hope it can at least sell 80 million, but if fear it will be closer to 8 million

if the NX is replacing the wiiU and 3DS than i think outselling wiiU is almost guaranteed. ..but i don't think it can reach 72M (13M wiiU+ 59M 3DS) or whatever the final LTD of these two systems are.

Who knows? Until we actually see it. It's a little hard ot gauge success based on a temporary name

It better does, or else I doubt we'll get more Nintendo consoles.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I simply can't imagine Nintendo making all of the same mistakes a 2nd time. They're going to do something right that they did wrong with the Wii u whether it's marketing or 3rd party support or software output or even the name. Even if they only fixed one of those things it would basically lead to better sales than the Wii u

I don't think so, competition is to fierce for NX imo.

The NX will absolutely destroy the Wii U. There are still millions of people that own wii's that think the Wii U is just a peripheral and not a new device. If they freaking name the NX something catchy and DIFFERENT from Wii, Nintendo should have no trouble selling 10's of millions more units of NX than the Wii U.

I don't, however, think it will sell as much as the DS or even the Wii lifetime.

If we remove the temporary Wii craze which brought in an influx of casuals that have since left ...

NES - 62 million
SNES - 49 million
N64 -33 million
GameCube - 22 million
Wii U - 14 million

This is actually a fairly consistent and frightening drop. There's only so many Nintendo faithful left.

Thats actually very eye opening.

THe NES and SNES were gamers in general. After those devices, people had more options. I'd say the truest number of hardcore Nintendo fans probably is starting at the Gamecube era, when Nintendo started losing 3rd party support. So the Wii U had a decent drop since Gamecube, but the NX will change that.

can it get any worse?
