I'm starting to think there isn't going to be (immediately) a pocket/handheld traditional type of NX. They seem to be doubling down on the 3DS to cover that lower cost/portable section of the market.

I think the intial NX itself will be portable but not a traditional handheld form factor (a mobile console). It was interesting the other day, Kimishima specifically referred to the Wii U as a "stationary console", a term they don't use often if at all ... maybe NX is then "non-stationary"?

Basically ditching Wii U but continue to support 3DS means that NX is definitely some kind of home console and not handheld.

In any case interesting reading, I am glad they don't planning to sell NX with loss and that they will have proper lineup.

I still think it will cover both handheld/console and the ditching of Wii U whilst supporting the 3DS is just so the 3DS doesn't go straight down to the sames sales level as the Wii U and still constunies to sell at current levels for another 6 months /through the holidays at least before dropping a huge chunk.

for shure, I expect them to support 3DS until at least summer 2017, when you're about to launch a new platform the last thing you want to do is drop a previous suxcessful device, just in case the new one doesn't sell well...

Focus on the 3DS, by not having a single 3DS game on the E3 showfloor, lol kay. Just admit you're 100% focused on NX already.

That not true we know there are lots a 3DS coming, Pokemon Sun and Moon, Dragon Quest games, Youkai Watch, Monster Hunter Generation...and they said they have more unannounced 3DS 1st and 3rd party games.

Kinda funny that the Wii U got replaced before the 3DS.

Maybe, but again predicted sales number suggest they totally ditching Wii U, it even suggest that Wii U want even have price cut. I dont want they would do that if NX isnt some kind of home console.

Even if they had both been replaced by the NX it would still have outlasted the Wii-U by a year and a half.

3DS was a nice piece of hardware, games like Smash 4, Super Street fighter 4, Resident Evil Revelations and Monster Hunter showed that it was not only a fun little handheld, but one capable of rendering some fantastic looking games as well, some of capcoms titles on the platform really made great use of it's hardware.... the suggestion from Nintendo that the original hardware in the 3DS was incapable of running the SNES games which it bought exclusively to the "New" 3ds eshop really undermined the power of the system overall, suggesting it was somehow capable of ports of X360 / PS3 games... but not of games from a console with a 2.79mhz processor.

I wonder what the price cuts for the 3DS will be like.

$169.99 - New 3DS XL
$129.99 - New 3DS (smaller model)
$99.99 - 2DS remaining inventory

I think they will go lower than that, 2DS currently has that price.

Yeah you could be right, maybe $149.99 for the N3DS XL, $99.99 for the regular N3DS, $79.99 for any remaining 2DS stock.
