Forums - Nintendo Discussion - NeoGAF rumor: AMD messed up and is the reason we are getting the NX next year

I don't believe this.

AMD I don't believe actually manufactures the chips themselves, so I doubt this.

If it was delayed on a chip basis it would likely be because it's 14nm and they were having yield problems, which way more believable.

The problem with this rumor is if it was true they (AMD) would have caught it with in a day. Since they do yield QA to check the yields and if only the "slides", I'm guessing they are referring to the medium they use to "print" the infrastructure on the the chips, the medium would be for the NX which would suggest they would have a lower then expected yield since even if they are using the same class of chips the modifications w3ould make them different in terms of where the interface is since I'm guessing they will both be using a SOC again which would dictate the interface be set up for their SOC.

And if this did happen it doesn't mean MS would be getting their chips early for the same reason. But this is just my guess.

Sorry the run on sentence it isn't easy to post from my phone.

The reason for the delay is AMD accidently made the new Xbox Chip instead of the Nintendo NX chip?

I have a very hard time believeing that.
Its not homer simpson manning those things at the manufacturing plants.

If true.... hopefully Microsoft are happy getting new Xbox chips early?

AMD doesn't make GPU's or CPU's or APU's. They design them, they get other companies to fabricate and assemble aka "make" them.

So what? some engineer at tsm made a mistake and not amd?

Doesnt really change much... I have a hard time believeing a "switch up" mistake just happends like that.

Ridiculous rumor.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Not saying the rumor has any accuracy, but people are laying the blame on AMD. :P

If its true someone at that plant where they make chips is probably going to be fired soon.

Ofc someone would try to deflect blame away from Nintendoesnowrong
Bs

Sure...

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
