They just keep doing it and show no sign of stopping. After this week shareholders meeting, many people took the officially announced NX release date way too seriously. This is Nintendo we are talking about. They can, and have a rich history of delaying delayed stuff even against what would be considered "logical". I'm don't think they care that much for the shareholders or this fiscal year, so a holiday 2017 or beyond is still more than possible. In which case the NX would come 5+ years after the WiiU (and no more excuses for #Team2016 sore losers).
It doesn't stop there. Anyone who thinks Nintendo is gonna make your "perfect" Nintendo system is at risk of serious concussions and brain damage. Will the NX be amazing? I have no doubt Nintendo thinks it's going to be, but that doesn't nessessarily means everyone else will agree which makes the risk of head injuries that much higher.
My proof? They are Nintendo and Nintendo likes to make sure everyone facepalms. They just made a lot of people facepalm by delaying the NX launch past holiday 2016. You think they gonna stop there? No, they aren't. So ready up your foreheads, people, cause they're gonna keep getting spanked.
