Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Alright, We Need To Talk About Quantum Break

Sure, buy me an Xbox One, and I'll go get it today ;) Absolutely zero chance I get it, or any game via Win 10 store.

Nice you are hyped over it. I personally thought it was just ok. Personally Alan Wake to me was much better game all around, the only thing QB has over it is graphics. The story was good, the live action was better than i thought it'd be, but the gameplay was just lacking and isn't very deep. Other issues.

1. Too short
2. Too easy. Hard difficulty is like Easy on Alan Wake.
3. Lack of weapons and limited abilities
4. Platforming aspects very basic
5. Lack of animations(like picking up weapons or switching weapons, foliage doesn't react when pass through it)
6. Walking around picking a slew of pointless collectibles. Should have just been emails seeing as they did provide some back story. Also Chronon since they are essential to upgrading powers.

IDK I just feel like it didn't meet the hype.

Also no sure if it was an intentional design, but the earbud Jack Joyce wears constantly pulsating in/out of his ear, drove me mad.

Edit: Also honestly with the exception of the pre-rendered scenes, I didn't find it that amazing visually. The effects were really cool, but it's not that pretty in action.

Objectively, you're very right.

But the game's really fun though, and I can really see how some people loved it. I liked it, but nothing more.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

For me, it's not just about the game. It's the total package. Sure, it DOES have flaws (like any game), but its strong points stand head-and-shoulders above those. I always question reviews these days, but in Quantum's case, a good chunk of them were overly harsh.

My thoughts exactly. Even with some flaws (terrible boss fight for example) the whole experience of playing it was something else. I found myself very immersed to the story and it was told in such unique way. Watching those tv-episodes made the game feel real and brought the characters alive like no other game before. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes story-driven games.

Also, 77 meta is a joke imo 😋

If I had an XBox One I would've bought it Day 1 but I don't so -_-

I don't want more than 2 consoles. My gaming area can't fit it & I wouldn't be able to balance more anyway. One would end up neglected. For now, I'm thinking I will replace the Wii U with NX but if it's buns or not a console, I could just get an XBox instead..

(Don't have a PC either) (Basically, I'm saying, If I get an XB, I'll make sure to buy it )

I thought the game was fantastic too. Not yet completed though, taking my time with it ( one episode a week I suppose).

The are some serious missteps that a lot of games in this genre have, like no weapon variety, powers given too early, little to ZERO sense of skill progression to name a few, but dozens of games have these issues and that doesn't stop them from being great.

What QB does right is something that many games fail to achieve. The story, pacing, characters whether supporting or the villains are top notch. I'm not a fan of the Iceman actor, that little finger guy or the dwarf from Lost, but they delivered great performances here.

Up until this point this gen, I would have said The Order has the best and (and surprisingly) the most engaging characters in a game, but I think QB takes that now.

I was looking forward to it originally and it would have been my Goty, had I been allowed to play it on my system...

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

See, this is why I value forums and youtube above sites like Metacritic.  Even short analysis like this of a game, makes me more intrigued than what you see on Metacritic.  Sounds like a great experience :)

It is. Like some of have said, there are some glaring flaws, but the ground work has been laid for a solid follow-up. Think: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Unfortunately, like Alan Wake, they're kneecapping it by making it Windows Store and XB1 exclusive.  I'd get it if the optimization weren't shite (I don't have a high end rig, so I actually need optimization to be somewhat decent).  And I just can't afford to get an XB1 for what amounts to a handful of games.  But, I'm glad others are enjoying it :)

I really loved the game.

Sure, it has its flaws but i found the overall package really pleasing for me.

I love story heavy games and i found in this title freshness in the narrative.

I really hope there is a sequel, the ending was fucking great imo.
